Marcos Giron vs Alex Michelsen prediction
Marcos Giron enters his Vienna opener with strong momentum following an impressive semifinal run in Antwerp last week. He has also thrived on indoor hardcourts, boasting a solid 7-2 record this season, and will be eager to carry that same form going forward this week.
Alex Michelsen, meanwhile, has played some of his best tennis on hard courts this year, compiling a 19-15 record while making several deep runs. His improvement as the season has progressed hints at his immense potential for the future. He's become a real force to be reckoned with, thanks to his powerful baseline game, and could prove to be a real handful going forward.
While both players are renowned for their baseline power, Giron heads into this contest as the favorite due to his superior experience and recent form on hard courts. Michelsen, however, shouldn’t be underestimated, as he has consistently shown the ability to challenge top opponents throughout the season.
The winner could ultimately be decided on the basics. Serving well and creating early inroads on the return will be key. Keeping points short and attacking the net will also pay dividends on the faster indoor courts in Vienna.
Pick: Giron to win in three sets.
