Rafael Nadal has been amongst the biggest sporting superstars on this planet for the best part of last decade. The winner of 14 Grand Slam titles and 27 Masters 1000 titles, Nadal has been a very polpular figure amongst fans, polarizing opinion like no other player.

Either you love Nadal or hate him, but you cannot ignore him. His famed rivalry with Roger Federer, another all-time tennis legend, has created rival fans of both, fans who ardently follow their idols.

All this has meant Nadal has been one of the most talked about and followed sports figures and this has led to financials gains and benefits too for the Spanish legend. Apart from his big earnings from winning various trophies, Nadal has also made millions every year from his numerous endorsements. Let us have a look at his career earnings and net worth at this moment.

Earnings from tennis

Nadal has been a consistent performer at all Grand Slams and Masters 1000 events over the years, and this has meant big career earnings through prize money won. He has won 67 singles titles in his career. All this has translated to a career prize money of about 75 million dollars – the third highest in the career prize money list, behindonly Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

And Nadal still has arguably three or four good years of tennis left in him to add more to his wealth and earnings from tennis.

Earnings from advertisements

Apart from his earnings from tennis, Nadal has also several endorsements from which he earns millions of dollars every year. He has contracts with companies like Nike, Bacardi, Richard Mile, Kia Motors and Tommy Hilfinger among others.

It is estimated that the Spaniard earned close to 16 million euros from advertisements in 2012. His earnings from sponsorships in 2013 were approximately 21 million dollars. In 2014, his total endorsement income was estimated at around $28 million.

So far, his biggest contract is with sports firm Nike, who pay him an estimated 10 million dollars per year to promote the brand.

As per Forbes magazine, Nadal’s net worth is estimated at around $12mn in 2015. He is still a top level tennis player and his earnings from advertisements and tennis both may be expected to continue for another few years at least – especially relevant considering his resurgence in form.

Splurges on luxuries and comforts

Nadal has purchased many estates in Spain, which are laced with luxuries many people cannot even dream about. He owns powerful machines such as the Aston Martin DBS and Mercedes SL 550, which are among the most luxurious things on four wheels on our planet.

Nadal’s Richard Mille 27-02 weighs a mere 20 grams and can withstand 5,000 Gs of force. Theere are only 50 such watches which have ever been made by the company, and Nadal is the proud owner of one of these jewels.

Nadal owns a luxury yacht, on which he likes to spend his holidays in Mallorca. He often posts pictures on social media relaxing on his yatch, and fishing in the ocean.

Rafa Nadal Foundation and Sports Academy

The Rafa Nadal Foundation was initiated by Nadal in 2007, and it focuses on social work and development aid, particularly concerning childhood and youth.

When asked about the motive behind the foundation, Nadal commented "This can be the beginning of my future, when I retire and have more time. I am doing very well and I owe society. A month-and-a-half ago I was in Chennai, in India. The truth is we live great here.I can contribute something with my image.”

Apart from this, Nadal recently opened a tennis academy in Mallorca to help budding young tennis players with world class facilities and support to hone their talents.

Clearly, Nadal has been a great role model for youngsters with his approach to tennis and life in general. His humility and simplicity, despite being such a global celebrity are praiseworthy and he will continue to inspire the future generation of tennis stars with his deeds, both on and off the court.
