Wimbledon 2016 Day 7: Full fixtures,schedule, preview, TV and live streaming info
With the rains staying away from the lawns of SW19 day 6 of Wimbledon 2016 saw most matches being completed as per schedule.
The result of the day came on center court when 28th seed Sam Querrey turned giant killer overnight and sent defending champion, world number 1 and the defending champion Novak Djokovic packing. The duo returned to the court after rain played spoilsport on day 5 with Querrey 2 sets up. The champion mounted a valiant comeback taking the 3rd set 6-3 and forcing a tie-break in the 4th. But it was not meant to be as big-serving Querrey held his nerve to win the tennis match in 4 sets. This is the first time Novak has lost before the quarterfinal stage of a Grand slam since 2009.
The other big fixture saw World number 2 Andy Murray take on Australian Millman. The British number 1 made short work of his lesser known opponent with a classic display. The Brit won in straight sets 6-3 7-5 6-2 progressing to the 4th round. While the news of Djokovic’s exit might come as a shock to others it would be music to Murray’s ears as he will now sense he has a genuine chance of going the distance.
Other matches also saw Milos Raonic, David Goffin, and Bernard Tomic winning their round of 32 ties and progressing.
The women’s draw saw 3rd seed Agnieszka Radwanska, 4th seed Angelique Kerber, and 5th seed Simona Halep all progress with comfortable straight sets victory over their respective opponents. Entering the 2nd week of the championships each one of them will feel they have a genuine chance of lifting the coveted shield.

Preview-
With matches being played on the traditional rest day only for the fourth time in the tournament’s rich history owing to disruptions due to rain the fans can look forward to exciting tennis action on day 7 of the championship.
Day 7 will see World number 3 Roger Federer play his 4th round match against Steve Johnson from the USA. The 7-time champion who has been in sublime form over the past 7 days will look to make quick progress to the latter stages of the tournament. With World number 1 Novak Djokovic knocked out the Swiss Master’s path to the record 8th Wimbledon just got a lot easier.
Also in action will be Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori when they face off against each other in the other high-profile round of 16 clash. With both the players ranked in the top 10 of the world rankings, it makes up for an interesting match. Nishikori has the lion’s share of victories when the two have met in the past. Cilic will look to improve on that 3-7 head to head record he has against his Japanese opponent.
Another high-profile clash will see Belgian 11th seed David Goffin take on Canadian Milos Raonic. In a match which will see 2 young bright stars face off, we expect nothing but a hard fought contest. At stake would be a place in the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon which might just motivate the players that extra bit.
The Women’s draw will see defending champion and world number 1 Serena Williams take on German Annika Beck in her round of 32 matches. Coming on the back of hard fought victory Serena will hope for an easy outing but the German Beck will have other ideas. With top seeds tumbling over the past 3 days at SW19 the German would be encouraged and will give it her all as she would have nothing to lose.
Day 7 will also see world number 4 Angelique Kerber play her 4th round match against her lesser known Japanese opponent Doi.
In probably the two best fixtures of the day Romanian 5th seed Simona Halep will take on 9th seed Madison Keys of the USA and the 3rd seeded Polish Agnieszka Radwanska taking on 18th seed Dominika Cibulkova. With their eyes firmly set on the title and favourable draws waiting for them if they progress both Radwanska and Halep will look to come out unscathed.
