Simona Halep was treated to a hero's welcome as thousands of fans packed the National Arena in the Romanian capital of Bucharest to celebrate the newly-crowned Wimbledon ladies single's champion on Wednesday.
Four days earlier, the 27-year-old produced a near-flawless performance in thrashing Serena Williams 6-2, 6-2 at Wimbledon.
She did something that Ion Tiriac - the president of the national tennis federation - or any other Romanian has ever managed - to win a Grand Slam singles title.
