Alexander Zverev vs Cameron Norrie preview
World No. 4 Alexander Zverev will lock horns with home favorite Cameron Norrie in the third round of the 2024 Wimbledon on Saturday.
Zverev cruised to a 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 win over Roberto Carballes Baena in the first round. He was up against World No. 46 Marcos Giron for a spot in the third round. The German broke his opponent's serve twice in the first set en route to claiming it.
Zverev blitzed through the second set as well as he swept six games on the trot to capture it. Giron played much better in the third set but it was too little, too late. The German broke the American's serve in the final game of the match for a 6-2, 6-1, 6-4 win.
Norrie downed Facundo Diaz Acosta in the first round to set up an all-British showdown against Jack Draper in the second round. The latter had recently won his maiden career title in Stuttgart at the start of the grass swing.
Neither player got a whiff of a break point in the opening set, which led to a tie-break. Norrie outplayed his younger rival in it to take a one-set lead, and then raced to a 4-0 in the second set. Draper managed to get one of the breaks back but he couldn't recoup the deficit entirely, and lost another set.
It looked like Draper was on the verge of mounting a comeback as he went 5-2 up in the third set. However, Norrie stopped him from closing out the set, and managed to force a tie-break as well. He gained the upper hand in it to register a 7-6 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (6) victory.

Alexander Zverev vs Cameron Norrie prediction
Norrie edged past the in-form Draper to record his third win over a top 30 player this season. He remained solid from start to finish, and even when he was on the backfoot in the third set, he got back on track rather quickly. The Brit struck a total of 35 winners, and had the same number of unforced errors.
Zverev, meanwhile, continued to saunter through the draw with ease. He hasn't lost his serve even once this week, and fired 34 winners past Giron in the previous round.
Norrie lost his first four matches against Zverev in straight sets. The former put up a fight against the latter when they met at the Australian Open earlier this year but the outcome was no different, as the German won yet again, this time in five sets.
However, Zverev hasn't been past the fourth round of Wimbledon, while Norrie is a former semifinalist here. With the backing of the home crowd, he could pull off an upset, though the German remains as the favorite to win.
Pick: Alexander Zverev to win in four sets.
