Iga Swiatek vs Coco Gauf preview
World No. 2 Iga Swiatek will take on Coco Gauff in their second group stage match of the WTA Finals on Tuesday.
Swiatek captured her fifth Major title at the French Open this year. While she struggled to make an impact at any other Major, the Pole had successful runs in the BNP Paribas Open, Qatar Open, Italian Open, and the Madrid Open. Swiatek also secured a bronze medal finish in the Paris Olympics, where she lost to Zheng Qinwen in the semifinals.
The Pole entered Riyadh on the back of a quarterfinal exit in New York. She started her WTA Finals campaign with a brilliant three-set win over Barbora Krejcikova, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, and will be eager to defend her title this year.
Coco Gauff, meanwhile, reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and the French Open, but couldn't make it count at any of those events. She's still had a remarkable season this year by garnering title-winning runs in the ASB Classic and the China Open.
The American entered Riyadh on the back of 12 wins from 14 matches, including a semifinal finish in Wuhan. She started her campaign by cruising past Jessica Pegula in the first bout, 6-3, 6-2, and will be eager to continue her potent form at the WTA Finals.

Iga Swiatek vs Coco Gauff prediction
Iga Swiatek has dominated the head-to-head battle against Gauff in recent years. She made her first appearance on tour in two months to grind out a tough win against Krejcikova in the first round. The Pole will only get sharper with match fitness under her belt and will be chasing the semifinal spot in the next few days.
Gauff, on the contrary, has always looked out of sorts while taking on Swiatek on tour. The American needs to be more clinical to outclass the Pole and keep a strict check on her errors. She had a promising Asian swing last month and will be raring to come out on top against Swiatek in Riyadh.
Iga Swiatek has arguably been Gauff's biggest rival in the last few years, halting the American's progress at significant stages in Major events and losing only once during their last 12 meetings on tour.
Though the second seed will need to keep her focus at all times to stop an in-form opponent on hardcourts, Swiatek remains the slight favorite to come on top.
Pick: Swiatek to win in three sets.
