Kat and Leslie on Beyond the Gates (Image via Instagram/@beyondthegatescbs)

I absolutely hate how Kat on Beyond the Gates keeps getting her hopes high, and Leslie always finds a way to slip through

Every time it looks like Kat is about to pull the last bit of the rug out from under her opponent, Beyond the Gates takes it away, and honestly, I'm so sick of it. I mean, I love a good cat-and-mouse game.

But when the mouse is continually getting away, regardless of how close I am to trapping it, it just feels like an endless cycle with no payoff. And right now, the mouse is Leslie, conniving, manipulative, and somehow always one step ahead.

Disclaimer: This article is based on the writer's opinions.

Kat has invested herself, trying to get Leslie down. Week after week, we watch her scheme, investigate, and dive deeper into Leslie's sordid past and present. And sure, it's funny we are watching her connect the dots.

But it's also painful because every time Kat looks like she is getting close, Leslie finds a way to worm out of it. It's infuriating; and now, with Jacob telling Kat they are "so close to putting that b*tch away for good," I'm rolling my eyes instead of cheering. Let's be honest, how many times have we heard a version of that?

Leslie is too slippery for her own good on Beyond the Gates

What bothers me the most is that Leslie is no longer discreet with her schemes. She walks around with all the confidence in the world and barely even has to cover her tracks, but it works somehow.

She spins the narrative, erases the evidence, or pushes it onto someone else and moves on. And it always works. I don’t know if it’s her low moral compass, the universe, or the writers, but it’s as if the universe is doing all it can to keep her above water.

Kat is the one risking everything every time, and rather than putting herself in a position of strength, she's left frustrated and feeling foolish. I’m done with her putting herself out there, and at some point, I want her to get a win at the end of this, not just for her, but for those of us who have been rooting for her since chapter one.

A show like a soap opera thrives on tension and a bit of unpredictability. However, stories that end up going nowhere become stale. Seriously, how many times can they tease one of Kat's victories and never deliver before viewers have emotionally checked out? I can't be the only one feeling this way about this entire Leslie business.

Kat needs to land a real blow soon, or somebody needs to solve this case already. I'm tired of seeing Leslie slip the net. It takes away the sense of satisfaction that brought viewers to Beyond the Gates in the first place.

Let Kat have her due, and she deserves it on Beyond the Gates

Is Kat one of the most easily compelling characters on Beyond the Gates? Smart? Passionate? An actual advocate for justice, which is more than half the cast? The creators have developed Leslie's character as a meaningful challenge, but in the process, they have made Kat the punching bag for Leslie's manipulations.

Kat keeps evolving, growing, and thinking through the challenges of this case. No matter the cleverness of her plan to catch Leslie, Kat is always one step behind. It's exhausting to watch.

And the week ahead will repeat the cycle yet again. Jacob brought "very, very good news," and Kat looks ready to pop the champagne, but I'm not celebrating. Because if history has taught us anything, Kat's wins are fleeting, and Leslie can never stay cornered long enough.

I want to see Kat win. I want her to finally wipe that smug look off Leslie's face. I want Beyond the Gates to stop dangling justice like a carrot and then taking it away at the last moment. Enough is enough, give us a payoff. Let Kat have her moment, she deserves it.
