I was disappointed, not by the verdict—but by how quickly Michael turned cold on General Hospital
The verdict is out on the Michael-Willow custody case on the General Hospital's storyline. In a startling twist, Michael received full custody of his two children while his marriage was dissolved. The decision left both parties stunned. Following it was another round of chaos that left Willow in the hospital.
There is no denying that the unexpected ruling of the court came as a surprise to me. However, as a longtime General Hospital viewer, Michael's reaction left me astounded. While Willow cried and begged, he allowed Diane to walk him out of the courtroom. Almost mimicking Jason, Michael seemed unemotional and cold towards his estranged spouse, who was once the love of his life.
Meanwhile, the long-running ABC daily soap presented other story arcs revolving around Martin Grey's return, Kristina's plots, and Elizabeth's life after Lucky's exit. Liz visited the airport to bid a final goodbye to Lucky as she asked him to take care of their son, Aiden. Elsewhere, a broke Martin offered to take up Tracy's case against Drew, where the latter framed the Quartermaine matriarch.
Martin also tried to convince Liz to file a case to investigate her accident. Since Liz is unwilling, Laura asked for Alexis's honest opinion, unaware that the attorney's daughter was behind the accident. At the same time, Kristina has set the ball rolling on Cody seducing Ava away from Ric, adding to the complications in Port Charles drama.

General Hospital: A quick look at the custody verdict
As General Hospital fans know, Willow and Drew had been trying to portray Michael as the absentee father so that the former could get complete custody of the children. However, Michael returned from his burns clinic, now played by Rory Gibson. He took temporary custody of the children while the case was heard in court.
With Sasha's baby born within court premises, Michael's case looked collapsing. However, Willow delivered the baby, bringing some peace between the warring parties.
To create more problems in the case, Drew tried to poison little Wiley's mind about Michael. This caused bitter misunderstanding between the estranged couple, and Willow spoke scathingly against Michael in Tuesday's episode, dated June 10, 2025.
Michael was surprised about Willow's claim to have gone to Germany to meet him. Meanwhile, he also prepared an escape route to skip town with the children if Willow got their custody. However, despite a foolproof argument in Willow's favor, the court ruled against her.
Thursday's episode, dated June 12, 2025, came up with the astonishing verdict as Michael won full custody of his children, both legal and physical. As Willow responded with begging and crying, Diane led a quiet Michael out of the court. Once home, he proceeded to inform little Wiley about the final verdict.
General Hospital: What was disturbing about Michael's reaction?
As a General Hospital viewer, I witnessed Michael Corinthos's character development. He has been a hot-headed, volatile character with a soft and loving heart. I would expect him to avenge his wife and uncle's betrayal, while also feeling Willow's pain at the court ruling.
However, he remained silent in the face of Willow's desperation. He did not even give her a glance when she collapsed. This was way too cold for the Michael that fans have known for years. He was equally composed when he went to inform Wiley about the court's decision.

While he may have assumed that the court will hand out joint custody, receiving full custody may have been a shock for him. He also realized that Willow was robbed of even partial custody. However, he only observed that the loving mother he married in Willow was gone, to be replaced by the changed woman he divorced.
This observation, while partly true, is most unfeeling since Willow landed at the hospital suffering the pain of losing her children. It is also surprising that a few days ago Willow helped Sasha deliver her baby and Michael thanked the nurse's selfless service.
Without doubt, after his burn accident, Michael seems to have hardened towards Willow. Whether the old loving and emotional Michael will return as his arc moves forward remains to be seen. Stay tuned to General Hospital to see how Michael's arc progresses in the upcoming episodes.
