High School football has galvanized a lot of attention this 2024 season. A lot of great football has been played and talent from all over the country has been showcased. There are a lot of good upcoming games slated to be played this week, and here's a closer look at five of them.

#1. St. John Bosco at Mater Dei (California)
The No. 2 St. John Bosco Braves (8-0) take on No. 1 Mater Dei Monarchs (7-0) in an away matchup on Friday. This rivalry runs deep and both schools will be looking to continue their win streak and achieve possible bragging rights.
St. John Bosco is led by quarterback Koa Malau'ulu who has 854 passing yards and 12 touchdowns. On the other hand, Mater Dei features quarterback Dash Beierly who's thrown for 999 yards and 14 touchdowns. Both teams have stellar offenses and will be giving each other's defense issues in the passing game.
#2. American Heritage at St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida)
No. 21 St. Thomas Aquinas hosts American Heritage in a battle of some of Florida's best on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas is going into this game with a 7-2 record, with their most recent win coming against Monarch, where they defeated them 44-6. St. Thomas Aquinas' outside linebacker Travares Daniels averages 4.9 tackles a game and is an anchor on the defense.
American Heritage is 4-4 and they've struggled a bit this season but their offense has been a bright spot. Wide receiver Malachi Toney is averaging 105 receiving yards a game and has been a top target for quarterback Dia Bell who's thrown for 24 touchdowns thus far.
A key to victory for American Heritage is to get after the quarterback, while St. Thomas Aquinas' secondary needs to contain the American Heritage's receiving core.
#3. Servite at Orange Lutheran (CA)
Servite has an away contest at No. 15 Orange Lutheran this week. Both teams are 6-2 and have been having a productive season. Servite may not be ranked as high as Orange Lutheran, but they've proved that they can compete with some of the best high school football teams in California. Running back Quaid Carr is averaging 128.9 yards per game. Their run game is a prominent factor in their offense.
Orange Lutheran is known for having top talent all over the field. Their linebacker Talanoa Ili has been a force, totaling 51 tackles on the season. Offensively, Orange Lutheran quarterback TJ Lateef is on a roll, throwing for 1738 yards.
#4. Westlake at Lake Travis (Texas)
7-0 Lake Travis hosts 6-1 Westlake on Friday. Lake Travis is ranked No. 12 in Texas while Westlake ranks No. 8. Lake Travis averages 432.1 yards per game while Westlake averages 405.1. Both teams have good defensive players with Westlake's middle linebacker Elliott Schaper averaging 7.0 tackles per game.
On the other end, Lake Travis' middle linebacker Easton Aird has 76 total tackles through seven games. Both teams are similar in their schemes as they have identical numbers across the board, setting up for a good game.
#5. Gainesville at Roswell (GA)
Gainesville is up against Roswell on Friday. Gainesville is 7-2 on the season so far and ranked No. 12 in Georgia. They defeated Chattahoochee 55-26 in their latest game. Gainesville defensive end Xavier Griffin has six sacks on the year and is a major factor on the defense.
Roswell is 7-1 and ranked No. 23 in the state. They've scored 289 points up to this point in the season and they've been tough for opposing teams to deal with. Quarterback Trey Smith has been a dynamic player, being productive in both aspects of the offense with 14 passing and 14 rushing touchdowns. Both teams are a good distance away from each other but they're competing as some of Georgia's best.
