Brian Kelly’s LSU goes on a massive recruiting trail with 5 No. 1 state recruits committing to the Tigers ft. QB Bryce Underwood

Brian Kelly's LSU Tigers have explosively impacted the 2025 recruiting season, securing commitments from five of the nation's top prospects. This impressive class, currently ranked third nationally, showcases LSU's strong recruiting presence and sets the foundation for future success on the field.

Top No. 1 recruits committing to the Tigers

#1. Bryce Underwood, Quarterback

Bryce Underwood, a 6-foot-4, 214-pound quarterback from Belleville High School, committed to LSU in July. Underwood is the nation's top-ranked quarterback for the 2025 class. For Underwood, LSU was always the dream destination.

"Honestly, LSU was my dream school since I was 12 or 13," Underwood told Bengal Tiger. "Going there and actually visiting, seeing what I had in store for the next four years of my life that was probably the moment I realized this is it."

Last season, he threw for 3,329 yards and 41 touchdowns, completing 64.9% of his passes while leading Belleville to the Michigan Division I state championship game.

#2. Harlem Berry, Running Back

Harlem Berry, a 5-foot-10, 182-pound running back from St. Martin's Episcopal School, has decided to stay close to home and play for LSU. Berry's decision to commit to LSU was influenced by his desire to be happy both on and off the field. According to his father,

"The deciding factor was him being happy, where he can grow as a young man." [via On3].

#3. DJ Pickett, Cornerback

DJ Pickett, a 6-foot-4, 179-pound cornerback from Zephyrhills, Florida, is the top-ranked defensive back in the 2025 class. Pickett chose Tigers over programs like Oregon and Miami.

"The people there, they really care about football," Pickett said via On3. "They welcome people in. I’m not from there so they just welcome you with open arms. It’s the connections they already have there and the people that are willing to help me when I get there.”

#4. Carius Curne, Offensive Line

Carius Curne, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive lineman from Marion, is the top-ranked offensive lineman in the 2025 class. His commitment to the Tigers came after an official visit, where he was impressed by the coaching staff.

"It’s about developing me in every aspect of my life,” Curne told On3. He’s real honest and tells me this will be hard, but they have the resources and people to develop me as a person, student, and as an athlete.

#5. Derek Meadows, Wide Receiver

Rounding out LSU's top recruits is Derek Meadows, a 6-foot-6, 205-pound wide receiver from Las Vegas, Nevada. Meadows’ father, Deshawn, praised LSU's coaching staff and their approach to player development.

"I like their attitude. The way they run practice, it’s very quick, very firm, making sure everyone is running from point to point. Definitely the environment. They’re a family over there. It’s a great family environment,” he said via On3.

Last season, Derek Meadows had 15 receptions, gained 391 yards and grabbed eight touchdowns. Having completed 21 transfers, the Tigers 2025 recruiting class is set to become an unstoppable force.
