Byron Louis college offers: List of schools in contention for 4-star RB
Byron Louis, a highly sought-after four-star running back from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage, has become a central figure in the college football recruiting scene. Louis, one of the most coveted uncommitted running backs in the nation, is set to make his college decision later this fall. He has scheduled his announcement for Sept. 21, as reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3.
The four programs vying for his commitment are Georgia, Florida State, Miami and Wisconsin.
Reflecting on his recruitment process, Louis shared with the Miami Herald:
“My first big boy decision. They’re the ones that have been showing me the most love since I was in the eighth grade. Being able to drop the list down is honestly a blessing."
Ranked as the No. 226 overall prospect and the No. 15 running back in the 2025 recruiting class by the On3 Industry Ranking, Louis is also the No. 35 player in Florida. He stands at 5-foot-10.5 and 205 pounds, and he has visited each of his top four schools officially. His recruitment journey included official visits to Miami on May 31, Wisconsin on June 7, Georgia on June 14 and Florida State on June 21.
“I’ve seen what I’ve seen, and I got what I had to get." Louis said.
Having excelled at American Heritage, Louis was productive over the past two seasons. In 2022, as a sophomore, he backed up current Miami running back Mark Fletcher, rushing for 439 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns on 55 carries.
By his junior year, Louis emerged as the primary running back, amassing 1,224 yards and 18 touchdowns on 160 carries. With Texas QB commit Dia Bell, he forms a formidable duo that will test opposing defenses.
Byron Louis talks about schools as he nears decision
In a conversation with On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons last month, Louis said that he is closing in on his decision.
“Ultimately, I will go where I feel the most comfortable. It is about that home-like feeling for me,” Louis explained. “Yes, I am going somewhere to play football, but I have to live there too. I will go to a place that fits me completely.”
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Florida State appears to be the favorite for Louis’ commitment. He appreciates the Seminoles' approach, saying:
“Florida State wants me to make my own decision. They tell me, if it is right, then it is right. Coach Mike Norvell believes Florida State is the best school for me, but he is not pressuring me and he wants me to make the best decision for me.”
Louis also spoke highly of both Georgia and Wisconsin:
“Both Georgia and Wisconsin can be called RBU. They produce great running backs, and if I want to play big-time football, they both say to come there. They both have good coaches and feature the running backs in their offenses.”
On Friday, Louis showcased his talent with 171 rushing yards, including a 68-yard touchdown, despite American Heritage's 37-28 loss to Milton.
