2025 class 4-star DL Floyd Boucard decommits from Brent Venables' Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma picked up a massive 34-19 win over Tulane on Saturday to move to 3-0, but the Sooners witnessed a big loss in the recruitment race just two days after the win. Four-star defensive lineman Floyd Boucard decommitted from the program's 2025 class on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound prospect hails from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He moved to the U.S. as a freshman and has since risen as a top football talent in the nation. The defensive lineman announced his decision to reopen his recruitment on X/Twitter:

“I would like to thank The University of Oklahoma for welcoming me with open arms. It’s after much consideration, thought and conversations with my family that I’ve made the decision to DECOMMIT and I am now reopening my recruitment to all schools.”

Boucard initially committed to Brent Venables' program on July 20, describing it at the time as a “perfect fit.” He expressed that the Sooners made him feel like a priority, and he had built strong relationships with Venables and co-defensive coordinator Todd Bates, saying they felt “like family.”

However, less than two months after committing, Boucard has changed course, leaving Oklahoma with 22 committed players for their 2025 class. The Sooners' recruiting class remains highly ranked at No. 10 in the nation and No. 8 in the SEC. It still includes top defensive linemen such as Ka’Mori Moore, C.J. Nickson, Trent Wilson and Alexander Shieldknight.

Which program leads the race for Floyd Boucard's commitment?

Floyd Boucard received offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Florida, Oregon, Penn State, USC, Miami, South Carolina and Florida State, among others. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Oklahoma still has a 79.9% chance to regain his commitment, but it is unclear if the program will stay in the running.

Miami, Florida and other schools have been pushing to stay involved. Rumors surfaced that Boucard would visit the Miami Hurricanes this past weekend, but according to CaneSport, that visit never happened.

Nevertheless, Boucard may have felt the positive energy from Miami’s massive 62-0 victory over Ball State. As a standout player from Miami Central, he is now being heavily linked with the Hurricanes, though no official crystal ball prediction has been made yet.

Miami has 21 players committed in the 2025 class, ranking No. 13 in the nation.
