Dawayne Galloway, a four-star cornerback from Franklin High School in Columbus, Ohio, has received a scholarship offer from Nebraska. The Cornhuskers were not included in Galloway's initial top 12 list of potential colleges, but the recent offer has positioned them back in the race for his commitment.

Galloway shared the news of the offer on his X/Twitter account, expressing his excitement about the new opportunity:

"Excited to have earned another scholarship offer from the University of Nebraska! Thank you God for all of this. Major shoutout to @DJRSwework for the lob. Booking an OV as we speak," Galloway wrote.

The offer was extended by Evan Cooper, Nebraska's defensive backs coach, who expressed high praise for Galloway (via On3):

“Coach Coop offered me today,” Galloway said. “He said that I’m the best cornerback that he’s seen and meant to offer way earlier. It doesn’t matter though now because they [Nebraska] are in the game and want me bad so Coach Coop is setting up an OV for me right now.”

Galloway is now in the process of arranging an official visit to Nebraska, which is likely to take place either midweek next week or next weekend. He is scheduled to visit Syracuse on June 14, Kentucky on June 18 and Penn State on June 21.

Galloway excelled both on the football field and on the track during his high school career. In 2023, he played as a two-way player for Marion-Franklin, recording five interceptions, including a pick-six. He also ran a 10.48-second 100 meters and a 21.56-second 200 meters as a junior while placing second in the Ohio Division 2 state finals in both events as a sophomore.

Purdue remains a strong contender for Dawayne Galloway's commitment

Dawayne Galloway received offers from Kentucky, Oklahoma, Georgia, Tennessee, Colorado, UCF, Penn State, Texas A&M, Purdue, Michigan and Syracuse, among others. But following an official visit to Purdue, the Boilermakers have reportedly bolstered their chances of landing the cornerback.

On3's Steve Wiltfong added to Purdue's optimism by logging a prediction favoring the Boilermakers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the program now boasts an 86.2% probability of securing his commitment.

Galloway is expected to announce his decision in July, but this timeline could change. His older cousin, Tayvion Galloway, is a four-star tight end who signed with Purdue in December. This family link may provide an additional edge for the Boilermakers in signing up Galloway.

Galloway is the No. 143 player in the nation, the No. 16 cornerback and the No.7 player in Ohio, according to On3 Industry Rankings. 247Sports also placed him at No. 204 overall, No. 22 at cornerback and No. 9 in Ohio.
