2025 class recruit Makhi Williams-Lee confirms receiving offer from Dabo Swinney's Clemson
Clemson is on the hunt for another interior defensive lineman for its 2025 class after the recent decommitment of Isaiah Campbell last Saturday. Coach Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff have now turned their attention to three-star defensive lineman Makhi Williams-Lee as a potential replacement.
Clemson defensive line coach Nick Eason reached out to Williams-Lee with the offer. On Tuesday, the prospect shared the news on X, writing:
"After a great conversation with @CoachEason1 I am blessed to have received an offer from Clemson University 🟠🟣 #agtg @mobounce2dounce @RivalsFriedman @On3Recruits @RecruitGeorgia @BigFaceSportss @ayeCoachG @wdboyd1 @CoachRumph @HaleMcGranahan @52RockJr."
The offer came just after Williams-Lee's decommitment from NC State. The 6-foot-1, 290-pounder made official visits to NC State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech in June. Initially committing to the Wolfpack on July 4, the Georgia native stayed pledged for over two months before deciding to reopen his recruitment on Tuesday.
Clemson is fresh off a 59-35 win over Makhi Williams-Lee's former team, NC State. This Saturday, the No. 17-ranked Tigers will face Stanford, and Makhi Williams-Lee will be in attendance with his grandfather, per Sports Talk Media Talk. This visit will definitely play a big role in his equation with the program.
Clemson has 13 players committed to its 2025 class, ranking No. 15 in the nation. The cycle features multiple four-star prospects like edge rusher Ari Watford, defensive lineman Amare Adams, safety Tae Harris, running back Gideon Davidson, cornerback Graceson Littleton and offensive tackle Brayden Jacobs, among others.
Makhi Williams-Lee's athletic profile
Despite his talents, Makhi Williams-Lee is considered underrated in the 2025 recruiting class. Recruit Georgia pointed out that the defensive lineman’s on-field film and stats don’t match the lack of attention he has received from the media.
Among major recruiting outlets, only ESPN gave Williams-Lee a four-star rating, ranking him as the No. 26 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 43 prospect in Georgia. 247Sports tabs him as the No. 76 defensive lineman in the cycle and the No. 81 prospect in the state.
Williams-Lee’s performance on the field tells a different story. In just the first five games of the 2024 season for Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Georgia, he racked up 40 tackles (31 solo), 10 tackles for loss, five sacks and one pass defended. His junior season was equally impressive, with 77 tackles (61 solo), 22 tackles for loss and 10 sacks.
