2026 class DE Anthony Jalloh confirms attendance for Ohio State's game against Akron on Saturday
Anthony Jalloh, a defensive end from Franklin Heights High School in Columbus, Ohio, is emerging as a prospect for the 2026 recruiting class. Despite being relatively underrated, the prospect's performances on the field are beginning to attract the attention of college coaches, especially within the state.
On Wednesday, Jalloh received an invitation from Ed Terwilliger, Ohio State’s director of high school relations, to attend the Buckeyes' season-opening game against Akron this Saturday. The game will take place at Ohio Stadium, marking the beginning of the 135th season of Ohio State football.
Jalloh expressed his excitement on X, tagging Terwilliger and Larry A. Johnson, Ohio State’s associate head coach and defensive line coach.
"I will be at The Ohio State University @OhioStateFB this Saturday vs Akron . Thank you @etwill21 for the game day invite. Looking forward to being on campus!! @R2X_Rushmen1."
For Ryan Day's Buckeyes, this Saturday’s game will be the 10th all-time meeting with Akron. Historically, the program has dominated this matchup and won every game against the Zips, including recent encounters in 2007, 2011 and 2021. The Buckeyes enter this season opener as heavy favorites, with a 50-point advantage, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Ohio State’s track record in season openers is incredible, with 24 consecutive victories. The Buckeyes have never lost to another Ohio team when playing in Ohio Stadium.
As for the Buckeyes' September schedule, they will face Western Michigan on Sep. 7, followed by Marshall on Sep. 21, both at home in Ohio Stadium. The month will conclude with a road trip to East Lansing, Michigan, to take on Michigan State on Sep. 28.
Akron’s upcoming schedule includes an away game against Rutgers on Sep. 7, a home game against Colgate on Sep. 14 and a road game against South Carolina on Sep. 21.
Anthony Jalloh's recruitment update
Anthony Jalloh has drawn interest from multiple college programs and gained some game-day visit offers, but he has yet to receive his first official offer.
In his sophomore season in 2023, the prospect racked up 85 tackles (27 for a loss), eight sacks and three forced fumbles. His performance earned him several honors, including the Team Defensive Player of the Year award, 1st Team All-OCC recognition and a Special Mention All-District nod.
As a freshman, Anthony Jalloh participated in three games, recording 20 solo tackles, two assists and two sacks. The prospect's high school's offensive coordinator, T. Owens, spoke highly of him, describing him as a "kid with a motor that's unheard of."
It will be interesting to see if Anthony Jalloh sees his stock continue to rise in the coming weeks.
