2026 class prospect Deacon King confirms Notre Dame visit for Week 2 game against Northern Illinois
Deacon King, a 2026 three-star safety from Westfield, Indiana, will visit Notre Dame's campus during their Week 2 game against Northern Illinois. It will be the 6-foot-1 safety's second visit to the Fighting Irish after he was on campus for the program's Irish Invasion Camp in June this year.
King is one of the most highly recruited athletes from the class of 2026 and is set to receive a lot of interest from some of the best programs in the country going forward. King has already received offers from schools such as Purdue, Central Michigan, Toledo, Akron and Buffalo.
Apart from these offers, the defenseman has also received considerable interest from Notre Dame and Michigan. Although these programs have yet to extend an offer to the Indiana native, there is a strong possibility they will eventually extend an offer to Deacon King.
During his sophomore year, the safety played 13 games for Westfield High School and recorded one interception, one pass deflection, one fumble recovery and 70 total tackles.
So far this season, he has played two games and has already recorded one interception and 11 total tackles. King has also contributed to his team's offense this year.
Deacon King spoke about Notre Dame's Irish Invasion Camp
Notably, King attended Notre Dame's Irish Invasion Camp in June this year. King attended the camp despite competing in Indiana's state track meet just a day before.
The 2026 prospect spoke about the camp and believed that he gave a good account of himself (via Irish Sports Daily):
"My ankles hurt a little bit, but other than it was pretty good," he said back in June. "I think I did pretty good. The one-on-ones were good. I think I was getting out of my breaks well and that’s what I’ve been mainly focused on this offseason."
King got a chance to showcase his talents in front of the Fighting Irish's staff, especially what he believes is his improved man coverage skills:
"Mainly my improvements in man," King said while talking about what he got to showcase during the camp. "That’s what I struggled on last year during the season and that’s where I’ve been really working on."
Deacon King also camped at Purdue and the UIndy mega camp the following week. He has received an offer from Purdue, but an offer from the Fighting Irish will likely be a huge pulling point for the Indiana-based athlete.
