2026 class prospect Izayia Williams confirms receiving offer from Sherrone Moore's Michigan football
Four-star linebacker Izayia Williams, from Tavares High School in Leesburg, Florida, remains one of the most promising prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. He has already received offers from Miami, Liberty, UCF, Florida State, Louisville, USC, South Florida, Ole Miss and Iowa State, among others.
Coach Sherrone Moore's Michigan entered the race on Monday by extending an offer to Williams. He shared the news on X, writing:
"Blessed to receive an offer from the university of Michigan @luc_brian @UMichFootball @FootballTavares @TavaresAthletic @CoachGrant @Coach_Hilding @SWiltfong_ @adamgorney @MohrRecruiting @DanLaForestFB @fbscout_florida."
Izayia Williams stands at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, and his versatility allows him to play both linebacker and edge positions at the next level. He is the No. 41 overall prospect, the No. 5 safety in the class of 2026 and the No. 6 player in Florida, according to On3. 247Sports lists him as the No. 41 overall prospect, the No. 4 safety in the class and the No. 9 player in the state.
During his sophomore season, Williams recorded 40 total tackles, six tackles for loss, one interception, two sacks, two forced fumbles and three pass breakups. He is also a talented track and field athlete, being a regional qualifier as a freshman in both the high jump and long jump, boasting personal bests of 6-0.75 in the high jump and 20-10.5 in the long jump.
Will Izayia Williams flip from Syracuse?
Initially committed to Louisville in November 2023, Izayia Williams reopened his recruitment two months later, ultimately pledging to the Syracuse Orange. In an interview with 247Sports, he shared his reasons for choosing Syracuse, saying:
"I picked Syracuse because they have been recruiting me the hardest out of any school. When I went up there to New York, they showed a lot of love towards me. The visit made it official when I got with the coaches.
"They were all really cool and talking to me about everything they have to offer there. The practice was really live and high intensity. Coach (co-defensive coordinator) Rob (Wright) talked about everything with his linebackers."
Though Izayia Williams is still committed to the Orange, the possibility of him flipping his pledge is quite high. According to On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, USF currently leads with a 22.2% chance, followed closely by Ole Miss at 19.4% and Western Kentucky at 16.7%. Syracuse, despite his current commitment, has only a 13.9% chance of retaining Williams.
