2027 class DB Joshua Dobson confirms receiving offer from Mike Elko's Texas A&M
Four-star cornerback Joshua Dobson from Catawba Ridge High School in Fort Mill, South Carolina, is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2027 class. Despite only being a sophomore, he has already gained huge attention from college programs.
Duke was the first to extend an offer to Dobson in February, and in August alone, he received offers from Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Liberty and Arkansas.
Dobson attended Texas A&M's 2024 season opener against Notre Dame at Kyle Field on Saturday night, where he was part of a lively crowd of over 107,000 fans. During this visit, he earned an offer from the Aggies.
On Sunday, he shared the news on X, tagging several Aggies coaches, including defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and defensive backs coach Jordan Petersen, writing:
"I am extremely blessed to receive an offer from Texas A&M University @CoachBateman @agaudet_tamu @CoachJPeterson @DC15sports @SC_DBGROUP @JibrilleFewell @the_real_GP @ZLendyak @JamaleFoster @MohrRecruiting @SWiltfong_ @coachturner5 @Coach_Swagg4 @CoachSweeting @RivalsFriedman."
However, the night ended in disappointment for Texas A&M fans, as coach Mike Elko's program fell to No. 7-ranked Notre Dame with a 23-13 loss. The game saw the No. 20 Aggies initially take the lead with a 34-yard field goal, but the Fighting Irish responded strongly before ultimately securing a 10-point victory.
Joshua Dobson opens up about his recruitment journey
Joshua Dobson is far from making his recruitment decision, but several programs are already vying for his commitment.
“The recruiting process is going great,” Dobson told The Clemson Insider. “I am enjoying the process and focusing on the work that still needs to be done in order for me to stay a top priority for any school that is interested in me."
Duke is the leader in the race, as the Blue Devils have a 32.5% chance of securing Dobson's commitment, according to On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. In-state South Carolina is also in pursuit, though with a lower probability. The Gamecocks, who made Dobson their first offer for the 2027 class on May 3, hold just a 1.8% chance of securing his commitment.
Tennessee, with 28.4%, and Auburn, with 24.4%, are also in the mix to land the 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback.
In the 2024 season so far, Dobson played one game and made three tackles. In his freshman season, he recorded 24 tackles, defended six passes and intercepted three.
Joshua Dobson is ranked by On3 as the No. 50 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 5 cornerback in the 2027 class and the No. 1 recruit in South Carolina. 247 Sports places him as the nation's No. 28 overall prospect, the No. 2 cornerback in the class and the No. 2 recruit in the state.
