2027 quarterback recruit Trae Taylor bags NIL deal worth over $100,000 with Leaf Trading Cards
Caramel Catholic High School quarterback Trae Taylor has already established himself as one of the top prospects from the class of 2027. The 6-foot-2 athlete from Illinois has now signed a NIL deal with Leaf Trading Cards.
As per On3's Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong, the deal is a five-year agreement worth between $100,000 and $200,000. The star prospect is not the first recruit from the class of 2027 to sign a NIL deal with Leaf.
Evangel Christian Academy quarterback Peyton Houston signed with the Leaf Trading Cards in May. The Name, Image and Likeness deals were first introduced in college sports in 2021, and since then, trading card brands have put up money to sign some of the best talents in the country.
Taylor has received a lot of interest from some of the top schools in the nation. The quarterback revealed that Notre Dame was high on his list and that he plans to visit their campus during a gameday.
"They said they will not offer any 2027 quarterbacks until after three games of our sophomore year," Taylor told On3's Mike Singer about a potential offer from the Fighting Irish. "They have said they fully expect that I’ll be one of the quarterbacks that they will offer. It would mean the world if I got that offer."
The 6-foot-2 QB is also expected to visit other top schools, such as Michigan, LSU, Purdue, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Illinois, West Virginia and Iowa.
Kentucky Wildcats extend offer to 2027 QB Trae Taylor
The Caramel Catholic High School quarterback received an offer from Kentucky after the Wildcats hosted a one-day camp last month. Taylor impressed the coaching staff and received an offer from the team's new offensive coordinator, Bush Hamdan.
The 6-foot-2 quarterback came into the camp with offers from Michigan, Maryland, Miami (FL), Colorado, Illinois, Purdue, NC State and several other schools. He spoke about his camp afterward.
"This is something I did expect," Taylor told KSR after his camp. "But it’s only because how hard I’ve worked in the past, and it’s showing off right now. Once we get the ball rolling with recruiting, the goal is to continue to knock the ball out of the park."
Trae Taylor is one of the top prospects from his class and will probably visit the campus later in the fall. Michigan is the current leader in the race to land the coveted prospect, with a 49.1 percent chance, according to On3.
