4-star ATH Dylan Robinson highlights factors that nudged him toward Washington following Kalen DeBoer’s exit: “Felt like home for me”

Dylan Robinson, a highly regarded four-star athlete from La Verne, California, has committed to the University of Washington. Despite having offers from top programs like Notre Dame and UCLA, Robinson chose the Huskies, citing a deep sense of belonging and the influence of the coaching staff as crucial in his decision.

Robinson, who excelled at Bonita High School in La Verne, California, had the versatility to play either offense or defense at the collegiate level. Ultimately, he decided to play defense under Jedd Fisch at Washington. Reflecting on his choice, Robinson said:

“I took two visits up there, and after visiting for the first time in January, it felt like home. On my official visit, it felt like home again and the place I should be at.”

The new coaching staff at Washington, led by Jedd Fisch, quickly extended an offer to Robinson after moving to Seattle. Their consistent and genuine interest made Robinson, who is ranked No. 186 in the On3 Industry Ranking, feel like a priority.

“They have been on it. That made an impact on me. Washington has always been a favorite in the back of my mind. Teams would switch out some after visits or conversations, but Washington stayed in the top two. My feeling for Washington kept persisting as a top school for me.”

Notre Dame had shown interest in Robinson for an offensive role, while UCLA, like Washington, saw his potential on defense. Robinson anticipates getting some offensive reps for the Huskies as well. As he contemplated his decision, Washington emerged as the clear choice.

“Every day, after my official visits, my decision became more clear. I prayed on it daily, I thought about it a lot, and there wasn’t a real moment that I made the decision, but over time, it became clear Washington was the school for me.”

Dylan Robinson's versatility and ambition led him to Washington

Dylan Robinson, a top 200 player nationally per 247Sports, ranks as the eighth-best athlete and a top 20 prospect in California. Robinson chose the University of Washington. It recruited him primarily as a cornerback — unlike Notre Dame, which eyed him for its 2025 wide receiver group.

Reflecting on his recruitment process, Robinson shared with Dawgman.com:

"I have a lot of great offers to choose from and some great schools that can help me be ready for life after football. I'm looking for the program that I feel like I have the best relationship with the coaches and a place that I think can get me ready for the next level and also life after football."

Robinson's junior season at Bonita High School included 69 tackles, four tackles for loss, four interceptions and five pass breakups. He shared that he has a preference for playing cornerback:

"I love playing corner because it allows me to get more up close and personal with the receivers. It allows me to just focus on half the field and work from there."

He is ranked No. 198 nationally and No. 14 in California for the 2025 class by 247Sports.
