4-Star Auburn RB commit Alvin Henderson records a scintillating performance in a loss to McKenzie High School

Auburn commit Alvin Henderson of Elba High School shattered two Alabama state records in an 80-78 four-overtime loss to McKenzie High School on Friday. Henderson put on a historic performance in the highest-scoring game in Alabama High School Athletic Association history.

Henderson rushed for 435 yards and scored 10 rushing touchdowns, setting new AHSAA single-game records in both categories. In addition, he completed three two-point conversions, bringing his total points to 66, which is also a state record for single-game points. His performance broke the single-game touchdown record and set a new benchmark for the most points scored in an Alabama high school football game.

In April, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound star flipped his commitment to Auburn from Penn State. Henderson is expected to return to Auburn’s campus this weekend for the Tigers’ matchup against California. He is ranked as the No. 9 running back and No. 13 prospect in Alabama in the 2025 class by On3.

Other notable prospects attending include top-ranked Alabama 2026 pass rusher Anthony Jones, four-star defensive linemen Antonio Coleman and Jourdin Crawford, and edge Jared Smith.

Alvin Henderson’s commitment flip to Auburn marks recruiting milestone

Four-star running back Alvin Henderson, who originally committed to Penn State in April, flipped to Auburn in April, giving the Tigers a major boost for their 2025 class. Henderson ranked No. 113 nationally and No. 8 among running backs by 247Sports Composite.

Henderson spoke about Auburn's new coaching staff, led by offensive coordinator Derrick Nix and co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly.

“Coach Nix and coach (Hugh) Freeze and coach (Charles) Kelly came down to my school last Monday,” Henderson told Al.com in an interview on Feb. 1.
“Coach Nix FaceTimed me last night and said he would be at my game Thursday. I’m already bonding with him, and he’s only had the job like two weeks.”

He’s also Alabama’s No. 11 overall prospect, bringing Auburn's count to six commitments from the state’s top 15 recruits.
