4-star OT Dramodd Odoms commits to SMU ahead of 2024-25 season: Report
Lamar High School's 6-foot-6, four-star offensive tackle, Dramodd Odoms, announced his commitment to SMU on Thursday. SMU has had a fantastic start to July in terms of acquiring top prospects in the country and that has only continued with the acquisition of the offensive tackle.
Odoms is the 110th overall prospect according to On3 and the 10th-best offensive tackle in the nation. He is also the 18th-best overall prospect in the state of Texas, as per the On3 Industry rankings.
The recruit from Texas had an official visit in Dallas on Jun. 7 and is now on SMU's roster for the 2025 season. He has already built a good relationship with the coaching staff at SMU, and that was a major reason for his commitment to the Dallas-based team.
"It was a vibe. I liked it a lot," the tackle told On The Pony Express.
The Southern Methodist University now holds 16 commitments for the class of 2025 and has moved up significantly in the Recruiting Team Rankings. SMU has six four-star prospects, including the big offensive tackle from Texas.
Other schools such as Purdue, Mississippi State and Houston were also in the running to acquire Odoms' services.
SMU has a top-25 draft class after acquiring OT Dramodd Odoms
SMU's start to July has been a spectacular one. They have made a string of acquisitions, including IMG Academy quarterback Ty Hawkins and Lamar High School's four-star offensive tackle Dramodd Odoms.
Odoms is the fifth commitment of this month as the program continues to make great progress in terms of building a solid roster for the future. They currently rank in the top 25 in the nation. SMU is the fourth-best program in the ACC, as per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
Hawkins announced his decision to sign with the Mustangs over TCU on Wednesday as the 12th-best quarterback in the nation. Dramodd Odoms followed soon after, as he announced his commitment the next day.
"This past weekend. I’ve just been talking with my parents a lot," Hawkins told On3 after making his decision. "I feel like at SMU I just have a better chance of playing early and it’s a really good opportunity there. It’s a great city, great location. I feel like something is brewing in Dallas, for sure."
Other top prospects in the class who have committed to SMU include four-star receiver Daylon Singleton, three-star safety Sael Reyes, three-star edge rusher Chinedu Onyeagoro, and three-star cornerback Zadian Gentry.
