4-star QB Brady Hart chooses Michigan over top schools, credits coaching staff and NFL ambitions

Four-star quarterback Brady Hart committed to the University of Michigan, selecting the Wolverines over other prestigious programs, like Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami and Florida. Hart, a standout from Cocoa High School in Florida, emphasized Michigan's coaching excellence and his NFL aspirations as pivotal in the decision.

"Michigan is an amazing place," Hart shared with On3. "It is a place that will push me and squeeze the excellence out of me. I can go there and win a national championship and prepare for the NFL."

Brady Hart's choice places him as the 92 overall prospect and the ninth-ranked quarterback in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The ranking aggregates data from four major recruiting services.

Standing at 6-foot-4, 180 pounds and ranking as the 15th best player in Florida, Hart had his first visit to Michigan on Friday. Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell made a significant impression on the young talent.

"The people in Ann Arbor are unbelievable," Hart remarked. "The visit blew me away and it is the best place for me. I want to be challenged and pushed, and I know Michigan will get the best out of me."

Although Brady Hart will not join the Wolverines for another two years, he is expected to become a central figure under center during his tenure there Hart's decision marks a new chapter for Michigan football, reflecting his belief in the program's potential:

"Michigan is where I want to be and I am stoked about my decision. I am done with recruiting."

Brady Hart's influential conversation with J.J. McCarthy seals commitment

One of the most significant moments in Brady Hart's decision to commit to Michigan was his conversation with former Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who is now a first-round pick for the Minnesota Vikings. McCarthy's insights into life as a Michigan student-athlete left a lasting impact on Hart.

"He explained why he chose Michigan," Hart Told 247Sports. "He told me that they challenge you in every single way and that this place will bring the excellence out of me."

In an exceptional gesture, McCarthy's parents drove from Illinois to Ann Arbor to meet Brady Hart and his family, which greatly influenced their comfort level with the program.

"That meant everything to me," Hart said. "It showed that we were a priority for Michigan. It was incredible to get insight from the people that have been through what we're going through."

Hart is eager to play a role in shaping the program's future by recruiting top talent:

"There are a bunch of guys I'm going to go after. I'm going to start figuring out the guys that fit Michigan from a cultural and personality standpoint and go after them."

Brady Hart's junior season at Cocoa High School was impressive, where he threw for 3,759 yards and 41 touchdowns, leading his team to a state championship with a 14-1 record. This commitment is particularly notable as Hart is the first pledge of the 2026 cycle for Moore and Campbell.
