4-star QB Brady Hart commits to Sherrone Moore's Michigan over Ohio State & Clemson

The Michigan Wolverines gained their first commitment in the 2026 class with a pledge from four-star quarterback Brady Hart. The signal-caller from Florida's Cocoa High School chose Michigan over Miami, Ohio State, LSU, Florida and Clemson.

Hart was given an offer by Michigan quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell back in April. Campbell made his way to Cocoa during last month's Spring evaluation period and watched Hart go through practice. Hart also made several visits to the program, which undoubtedly helped him make his decision.

Hart shared his commitment news on X/Twitter on Tuesday:

Hart is now the fifth among the top 10 pocket passers in the 2026 class to announce his pledge, joining Georgia commit Jared Curtis, Texas commit Dia Bell, Florida commit Will Griffin and Notre Dame commit Noah Grubbs. Notably, he is the highest-ranked quarterback recruit Michigan has landed since J.J. McCarthy.

247Sports' composite rankings listed Hart as the No. 7 signal-caller in the 2026 class and the No. 92 overall player in the nation. The On3 Industry Ranking rated him as the No. 9 quarterback and No. 92 overall prospect in the nation.

As a sophomore, Hart completed 65.9% of his passes for 3,759 yards to go with 41 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, leading Cocoa High School to a 14-1 record and a Florida 2S state championship.

Brady Hart reveals key factors in choosing Michigan

His recent multi-day visit to Ann Arbor was a decisive factor in his commitment to Michigan. The Wolverines made Hart their top priority at the quarterback position for the upcoming cycle, and their efforts paid off (via On3):

“It exceeded my expectations,” Hart said. “It’s an amazing place. It was spectacular. I enjoyed spending time with Coach [Kirk] Campbell and Coach [Sherrone] Moore.

But perhaps the biggest factor that swayed Hart was Michigan's planning for a successful transition in the post-Jim Harbaugh era.

"The biggest thing was listening to their philosophy on how things are going to move forward without Coach [Jim] Harbaugh there. I don’t think the program is going to skip a beat. Michigan has been winning. They won a national championship last year. That’s what Michigan does,” Hart added.

Campbell’s confidence and strategic discussions about the offense and Hart’s fit within it also left a lasting impression:

“We talked a lot about offense and scheme and how I fit the program. I really enjoyed spending time with Coach Campbell… He knows a ton about the game. He’s confident in what he can do and how he develops the guys each week to go into big-time games and win.”

The program's quarterback room remains highly competitive as there is an upcoming quarterback competition for the 2024 starting spot, with four-star freshman Jadyn Davis and four-star high school senior Carter Smith already in the mix.
