4-star safety CJ Jimcoily reveals factors that nudged him towards LSU commitment: “Felt like family”
CJ Jimcoily, a highly-touted four-star safety from Nashville's Lipscomb Academy, has officially pledged his commitment to Louisiana State University (LSU) for the 2025 recruiting class. His decision is a crucial win for LSU, as head coach Brian Kelly continues to build an elite defensive lineup.
Jimcoily had several prestigious options, with Alabama, Stanford, and Tennessee among his final choices. Ultimately, it was LSU that captured his heart, despite a strong late push from Alabama and the academic allure of Stanford.
Reflecting on his choice, Jimcoily emphasized the environment and connection he felt with the LSU staff as prime reasons for his commitment.
"The coaching staff and the environment at LSU felt like family,” Jimcoily said via On3. "The people at LSU were a big reason why I committed to LSU. They care for me and want the best for me."
While acknowledging that passing up Stanford meant sacrificing some academic opportunities, Jimcoily was confident that LSU offered a solid academic
“LSU showed me where I could get a good degree, internships I could take part in, and how I could build strong relationships for my future as well,” he added.
As the No. 36 safety in the nation, CJ Jimcoily will be playing under the bright lights of Tiger Stadium.
“I made the decision a couple of weeks ago, and it is a great feeling,” he said. “It feels right. It is going to be amazing to play at LSU, and I am constantly thinking about it.”
CJ Jimcoily praises LSU coaches for impact on his commitment
LSU continues its strong recruiting push, securing its 20th commitment for the 2025 cycle with four-star safety CJ Jimcoily from Lipscomb Academy.
Jimcoily attributes much of this success to LSU’s head coach, Brian Kelly, whose vision and passion for the program have resonated with recruits.
“I have a lot of love and faith in Coach Kelly,” Jimcoily told On3. “He is building a monster recruiting class, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it. His passion for LSU is evident, and recruits see it in his eyes, which made a big impact on me.”
CJ Jimcoily shared that he has already connected with other top recruits, including Bryce Underwood.
“It started with Coach Kelly, and we all believe he is building something special in Baton Rouge,” Jimcoily said.
While Kelly’s influence was significant, no one impacted Jimcoily’s decision more than LSU’s safeties coach, Jake Olsen.
“I love Coach Olsen. He has been the biggest factor in building relationships,” Jimcoily said. “Since he arrived at LSU, he has been in constant touch with me. Coach Olsen is genuine, honest. He holds a special place in my heart."
During his junior season at Lipscomb Academy, CJ Jimcoily recorded 51 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, and one interception, primarily playing cornerback.
