$45M worth Deion Sanders reveals recruiting strategies during the 2024 CFB season - “Have got to go on a Friday”
Since the arrival of Deion Sanders, the Colorado Buffaloes have been one of the most talked about teams in college football. The Pro Football Hall of Famer has been working towards building a strong roster and has made some great acquisitions from the high school circuit.
Sanders spoke about the difficulties of the recruiting process and revealed his solution to watch elite high school prospects during the season.
"In the fall, it’s tough because we’re playing," Sanders told Phillip Dukes of The Five Star Flex. "That means I’ve got to go on a Friday. We’ve got all kinds of activities and commitments to my team on Fridays. That’s tough. Maybe, possibly, on a bye week. But I would love to."
Sanders, whose net worth is $45 million (per Celebrity Net Worth), also shed light on a personal challenge that gets in his way of recruiting.
"They treat me a little different," Sanders said. "What I mean by that is, say I go see this kid. What you think those coaches are gonna say to those kids? They treat me different, they come at me different. They’re gonna say, 'Well, he went to see him, he didn’t come to see you. So he don’t care about you.'
"They come at me different. My playing field ain’t as level as everyone else’s. They treat me a little bit different, so I’ve got to be one step ahead of them."
The Buffaloes are ranked No. 87 nationally for the class of 2025, as per On3. Their 2025 class is ranked as the 16th-best class in the Big 12.
Deion Sanders and Colorado Buffaloes' commitments from the class of 2025 so far
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are yet to secure a five-star commitment from the class of 2025. They have only signed five prospects so far and have their work cut out going forward.
Among those five commits, only Alex Graham and Chauncey Gooden are four-star prospects. Graham, a four-star cornerback from IMG Academy, announced his commitment to Colorado in April. Gooden, on the other hand, made his decision in June. He is a four-star offensive lineman from Lipscomb Academy.
Mantrez Walker from Buford, Bluff City's Corbin Laisure and Jay Gardenhire-Cooks from West Bloomfield are the other commits. Walker and Laisure announced their commitment in April, whereas Gardenhire-Cooks announced his in June.
