Texas schools have been responsible for almost 25% of the NFL quarterbacks in the last ten years. Texas is way ahead of the rest of the country, with California coming in second, with just over 14%.

Patrick Mahomes: Whitehouse High School, Whitehouse, Texas

Widely regarded as the best quarterback in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes had an illustrious high school career at Whitehouse. As a senior quarterback, Mahomes threw for an impressive 4,619 yards and 50 touchdowns, while also rushing for 948 yards and 15 touchdowns.

In high school, he recorded 8,458 passing yards and 96 touchdowns in just two years as a starter. His outstanding performance earned him the MaxPreps Male Athlete of the Year award for the 2013-14 school year.

Baker Mayfield: Lake Travis High School, Lake Travis, Texas

Baker Mayfield lead Lake Travis to a 25-2 record over two seasons. In his senior year, Mayfield threw for 2,467 yards with 22 touchdowns and only three interceptions.

However, it was his junior year where he truly shined, passing for 3,788 yards and 45 touchdowns, leading his team to a UIL 4A State Championship. By the end of his high school career, Mayfield had accumulated 6,255 passing yards and 67 touchdowns.

Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts had a standout career at Channelview High School. Throughout two seasons, Hurts threw for 3,523 yards with 33 touchdowns and added 1,747 rushing yards with 34 rushing touchdowns.

Kyler Murray is often considered one of the greatest high school football players in Texas history. During his time at Allen, Murray led his team to an astonishing 42-0 record as the starting quarterback, winning three consecutive UIL State Championships.

Throughout his high school career, Murray accumulated over 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards, along with a jaw-dropping 186 total touchdowns.

Matthew Stafford: Highland Park High School, Dallas, Texas

Matthew Stafford had an impressive high school career at Highland Park in Dallas. Despite missing three games due to a knee injury, Stafford threw for 4,000 yards in his senior year and led his team to a 15-0 record, securing the UIL 4A Division 1 State Championship.

Over his three seasons as a starter, Stafford threw for 5,856 yards and 54 touchdowns, demonstrating his leadership and arm strength, traits that have carried over into his professional career.
