5-star Texas Longhorns commit Dia Bell suffers game-ending injury during playoff match
High school quarterback Dia Bell, one of the highest-ranked players committed to the Texas Longhorns, suffered a worrying leg injury on Friday. While playing for the American Heritage Patriots against Dillard, Bell received a blow in the third quarter that sent him out of the game.
Bell left the game after a tackle from behind and was taken to the hospital, which is always a worrying sign. Good news came later on when Bell, a five-star prospect as per ESPN, posted on X:
"Thank you everyone for all the prayers! So proud of my @ahspatfootball teammates for getting the playoff W! Thankfully all X-rays were negative. I’ll be back soon!"
Bell also shared a video of some rehab, which certainly is encouraging for fans:
Why dual-sport star Dia Bell committed to Texas
Dia Bell is a dual-sport star as not only is he an exciting QB prospect but he plays basketball too. Bell is the son of former NBA star Raja Bell, who made the NBA All-Defensive Team twice in his 13-year career, most notably with his time at the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz.
Dia Bell committed to Texas in June and discussed his decision with On3:
“I really enjoyed my visits and have developed great relationships with Coach Sark and (A.J.) Milwee. They are one of the best offenses in the country and have a track record of development at my position. I’m really excited about their move to the SEC and the opportunity to help bring a championship to the 40 acres.”
He also spoke to On3 prior to committing to the Longhorns:
"Austin is a cool town and its a great University. The football program is one of the best in the country. Coach (Steve Sarkisian) and Coach (A.J.) Milwee have had a lot of success offensively and especially with the development of their quarterbacks. I am good friends with their 2025 commit KJ Lacey.”
We now wait for more precise information on the nature of Dia Bell's injury and what his timeline for recovery might be.
