Alabama Recruiting: 4-star forward Lourdes Da Silva Costa commits to Kristy Curry's 2025 class
Four-star forward Lourdes Da Silva Costa from Montverde Academy (Montverde, FL) announced her commitment to Alabama University on Monday. Lourdes shared the news on her Instagram.
She posted a picture of herself in Crimson Tide colors with the word “committed” highlighted in bold. The caption read:
“1000% committed. I am happy and excited to announce that I will continue my academic and basketball journey at the University of Alabama. I am blessed and thankful foreveryone who has been a part of my journey.”
Da Silva Costa will now strengthen Alabama coach Kristy Curry's 2025 class. The Swedish national also had offers from North Carolina, Florida State and Miami.
As to why she picked the Crimson Tide over other programs, the 6-foot-3 forward attributed their playstyle to being the biggest motivator.
“I believe my versatility can be a lot of help—and just my drive,” Da Silva Costa told On3. “I think they play with a really good pace, and I think that looking at some of their players that they have now that are kind of similar to me will be like a good way for me to also kind of follow.”
How will Lourdes Da Silva Costa fit in with Kristy Curry-led Crimson Tide?
Lourdes Da Silva Coast is ranked 51st in the 2025 ESPNW women's basketball recruiting rankings, bringing her massive frame and the ability to dominate both offense and defense on the court. She is the third commit to Kristy Curry’s 2025 class and will join alongside power forward Joy Egbuna from Mansfield, Texas, and small forward Tianna Chambers from Englewood, Colorado.
Da Silva Coast's high school stats reveal a solid player with room to grow. During the 2023-24 season, she played 28 games and managed 6.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Besides, at the 2022 FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship Division B, Lourdes Da Silva Costa stood out with her impressive average of 9.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. It showcases her dominance on the court and highlights her playmaking abilities.
On top of that, Lourdes Da Silva Costa is strongly focused on improving her game, which will benefit Alabama.
“I think I’m pretty versatile,” Da Silva Costa told On3. “I play hard, and I’m good at running the floor. I’m hard on myself, so I really would say that I want to work on improving everything... being more consistent with my shot.”
Lourdes Da Silva Costa’s commitment adds height and skills to Alabama’s lineup, including strong offense and defensive capabilities. It will be interesting to witness how she grows with the Crimson Tide.
