Aliyah Boston High School Stats: Revisiting the Indiana Fever Star's career before college and the WNBA
Aliyah Boston’s rookie season with the Indiana Fever in 2023 made her a clear star in the WNBA, as she averaged 14.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, winning the 2023 Rookie of the Year award and an All-Star selection. In her sophomore season, she is averaging 14.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, granting her a second consecutive All-Star selection.
Boston concluded the 2024 season after being swept by the Connecticut Sun in the first round. However, with key plays from veteran Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark, who was the 2024 Rookie of the Year, the team showed promising firepower on the offensive front, and with Boston's two-way play, the Fever has a bright future.
Before making her mark in the WNBA and during college in South Carolina, she had several heads to turn at her high school at Worcester Academy, Massachusetts. She was a five-star recruit and was touted as the best post player in her class.
Paving the way at Worcester Academy
Worcester Academy has announced that Boston will be the first player in the history of the school to have her jersey retired.
A forward/center standing at 6'5", Boston was a nightmare match-up for opponents on either side of the court. In her senior year, Boston posted a double-double of 24.2 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with six blocks a game. These stats show how she can easily dominate the paint on both ends.
Boston led Worcester to its second consecutive New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class A championships in 2018 and 2019. Her performances in pressure-cooking playoffs established her future as a clutch performer. Her coaches remarked that she was an anchor on the defensive end and intimidating to the most skilled offensive players in the state.
Boston was also ranked as the No. 3 recruit in the nation by ESPN's HoopGurlz, named a McDonald’s All-American, and a finalist for the Naismith Prep Player of the Year.
