Amid Julian Lewis to Colorado rumors, five-star QB recruit announces USC visit after initial commitment
Colorado has become a key player in the recruitment race for five-star USC commit Julian Lewis. The quarterback has visited Boulder more than three times and has been rumored to be warming to the Buffaloes.
However, Lewis slowed down those rumors by announcing a game-day visit to the Trojans for the program's matchup against Wisconsin on Sept. 28 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This game marks the first sold-out contest for USC in 2024, following two sold-out home games last season against Washington and UCLA.
This will be Lewis’ first visit to USC since early June. He announced the news on X, tagging multiple USC commits, including Jerome Myles, who committed to the Trojans on Wednesday, as well as Tanook Hines, Romero Ison and Corey Sims:
"They put me on the @goodyear blimp so I had to come home. See y’all next week at The Coliseum ✌️ @uscfb 🤫 @jerome_myles6 🎯 @tanxxk16 🎯 @meroison3 🎯 @C0rey_Simms3 🎯."
The game will see Wisconsin head coach Alex Grinch and linebacker Tackett Curtis, both former Trojans, making their return to Los Angeles. USC comes into the game with a 2-0 record, having defeated LSU 27-20 on Sept. 1 and Utah State 48-0 on Sept. 7.
Wisconsin also ensured a 2-0 run after beating Western Michigan 28-14 on August 30 and South Dakota 27-13 on Sept. 7. However, the Badgers fell to 2-1 following a 42-10 loss at home against Alabama on Saturday.
Will Julian Lewis remain committed to USC?
According to On3 recruiting Prediction Machine, USC has only a 14.9% chance of retaining Julian Lewis' commitment. However, on the Sept. 15 episode of the "On3 Recruits" show, recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong noted:
“I think Julian Lewis and his family continue to have conversations with several schools but the intel still favors him sticking with USC when all said and done," Wiltfong said.
Even Lewis himself reaffirmed his commitment to the Trojans last month:
“As of right now, I’m still locked in with USC,” Lewis told Trojans Wire. “That’s still where my home is. You know, taking visits is kind of a part of the process, and I was going to see what’s going on everywhere else, but I’m still USC right now.”
On the field, Lewis has continued to impress, as he led his team to a 21-14 victory over Woodward Academy in his season opener for Carrollton High School, throwing for three touchdowns. Through five games this season, he has accumulated 1,242 total yards and more than 20 touchdowns, with only two interceptions.
