Arizona State recruiting: 3-star receiver announces his de-commitment from Kenny Dillingham's 2025 recruiting class
Michael Scott has officially de-committed from Arizona State University (ASU) and head coach Kenny Dillingham’s 2025 recruiting class. Previously ranked as the 27th-best player in Pennsylvania’s 2025 class and the 163rd receiver nationally, Scott had committed to ASU on June 3, 2024, after a promising visit to the campus.
However, Scott has now decided to reopen his recruitment, leaving the Sun Devils without a potential future playmaker. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Scott expressed his gratitude:
"After a long talk with my family and coaches and prayers to God, I have decided that I will be decommitting from Arizona State University and reopening my recruitment process.
"This decision was a very hard decision to make because of the great people and coaches that Arizona State has and the culture that they are creating and rebuilding is absolutely electric. But I feel like this is God's will and I follow everything by my faith in Christ."
He thanked ASU’s coaching staff for their hospitality and support, emphasizing the difficulty of his decision:
"I would like to thank Arizona State coaching staff for showing me true love and hospitality and giving me an opportunity to go to college for free. I would also like to thank Arizona State fan base for sticking beside me and supporting me through everything."
Scott’s high school football career highlights his versatility. He threw for 180 yards with a 63.2% completion rate, adding a touchdown. He also rushed for 617 yards on 83 carries, averaging 7.4 yards per attempt, with eight touchdowns.
Even though Scott has de-committed, ASU’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked 12th in the nation and first in the Big 12 with 20 commits, including four-star wideout Cooper Perry, and CB Jamar Beal-Goines.
Arizona State defensive lineman surprises teammates with singing talent
Arizona State junior defensive lineman Jacob Kongaika is known for more than just his football skills. He loves to sing! Whether it’s R&B, soul, or church choir music, Kongaika often surprises his teammates with his vocal talent.
Fellow lineman C.J. Fite recalled his first encounter with Kongaika:
“When you see Jacob, he’s smiling, laughing, singing,” Fite was quoted as saying by AZ Central. “The energy he brings, it lights up everybody around him.
“I ain’t gonna lie when I first heard him sing, I was actually impressed,” Fite said. “He’s actually a real good singer. But then you try to get him to sing and he acts like he’s scared to sing. He always tries to downplay himself. But any time he sings, everybody listens because he’s pretty good.”
Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 290 pounds, Kongaika's talent is undeniable.
In the 2023 season, Kongaika made his mark on the field, appearing in 13 games and tallying 14 tackles, including nine solo tackles and two sacks that led to an 18-yard loss. His standout game against Colorado saw him record three tackles.
During his high school career at Mater Dei, Kongaika notched 38 tackles, including 9.5 for loss, and one sack.
