Arkansas' 5-star signee Meleek Thomas leads City Reapers to a comfortable win over Diamond Doves
Meleek Thomas, Arkansas' five-star commit, delivered an electrifying performance, dropping 31 points with four assists and five rebounds in the City Reapers' 103-82 victory over the Diamond Doves on Friday. Known for his high-volume scoring and ability to make tough shots, the 6-foot-4 point guard's offensive arsenal was on full display, showing why he's ranked ninth in the 2025 class.
The Diamond Doves led 16-14 after the first quarter. However, the City Reapers bounced back with a dominant display in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 21-10 to seize control of the game. They built momentum, adding 26 points in the third quarter, before erupting for a 42-point fourth quarter.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Thomas has risen through the ranks, first at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, where he scored 1,750 points and led the team to two consecutive state championships. After his junior year, he joined Overtime Elite as a non-professional player for the City Reapers, preserving his collegiate eligibility.
Thomas's ability to score from anywhere, coupled with his defensive intensity, makes him one of the nation's most promising recruits. According to ESPN, he's the No. 2 ranked shooting guard in the 2025 class. With his versatility, shooting off the dribble, creating space and incredible finishes against the Doves on Friday, he more than justified the ranking.
What's next for Meleek Thomas
The five-star prospect signed with Arkansas last month over offers from Pittsburgh and UConn. As the City Reapers gear up for more challenges in the Overtime Elite league, Thomas will remain the centerpiece of their success. He will also surely be a player to watch when he suits up for the Razorbacks in 2025.
