Purdue football’s new coach, Barry Odom, is wasting no time reshaping the Boilermakers’ program. The school's coaching staff is also sending offers to potential recruits, and freshman quarterback Brady Quinn from First Baptist Academy in Naples, Florida, is one of the latest prospects to receive a scholarship from the Boilermakers.

Purdue quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw extended the offer to Quinn. On Friday, the freshman quarterback shared the news on X, writing:

"After a great conversation with @CoachHinshaw I’m blessed to receive an offer from Purdue!!! #Boilerup."

Hinshaw is Purdue’s newly appointed quarterbacks coach, who brings a wealth of experience to the program, including two years as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at UCF. With 12 years of offensive coordinator experience under his belt, he is expected to be an excellent mentor for promising prospects like Quinn.

Despite being just a freshman quarterback, Quinn is drawing significant attention from recruiting analysts. According to the QB Hit List, he is ranked as the top pro-style quarterback in the 2028 class.

“He's a rhythmic passer with a fluid throwing motion,” QB Hit List's report reads. “Sound throwing mechanics which are consistent in every rep. This QB's key attribute is his accuracy. Sharp precision passing at every level. Making throws with excellent ball placement.”

Quinn has yet to be rated by recruiting channels, but he capped off his freshman season with a phenomenal performance. He threw for 2,549 yards and 33 touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 105.1. His nine interceptions mark an area for improvement, but his overall performance earned him first-team All-Region honors as a freshman. He also had a rushing touchdown to his season stats.

Ahead of Purdue, Quinn also received offers from multiple schools, including Ole Miss, FAU, Kentucky, Nebraska, Louisville, UCF, Syracuse, Missouri and Maryland, among others.

Purdue football recruiting classes update

Purdue is yet to secure a commitment in its 2026, 2027 and 2028 classes. However, the Boilermakers received eight commitments in their 2025 class and rank No. 119 in the nation. The cycle has also secured four transfer players: quarterback Malachi Singleton, offensive tackle Hank Purvis, interior offensive lineman Mason Vicari and quarterback EJ Colson.

Purdue's 2025 class was hit with multiple decommitments. The cycle lost pledges of cornerback Dawayne Galloway, quarterback Sawyer Anderson, tight end Brian Kortovich, offensive tackle Kuol Kuol, wide receiver Lebron Hill, linebacker Grant Beerman and defensive lineman Drayden Pavey, among others.
