Billy Napier's Florida to host five-star LSU CB commit DJ Pickett this weekend
Five-star LSU cornerback commit DJ Pickett made a trip to Baton Rouge last weekend and saw the Tigers fall to 6-3 overall with a 42-13 loss against Alabama. Despite his commitment to Brian Kelly's program in July, Pickett has been in discussion with other schools.
Pickett's father told On3 that the CB is set to visit Florida on Saturday when the Gators take on LSU at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Gators' most recent game was against Texas on Saturday, which they lost 49-17.
Over the last three meetings, LSU has recorded wins in every game. But Billy Napier's Gators will try to shake off the distress this weekend, as the game will be a huge recruiting event as well.
Besides DJ Pickett, the Gators will be hosting five-star Ohio State cornerback commit Na'eem Offord and five-star Texas wide receiver commit Jaime Ffrench on a visit this Saturday.
Florida will host multiple committed players this weekend, including defensive tackle Myron Charles (Texas commit), defensive end Julius Holly (Michigan commit), quarterback Tramell Jones (FSU commit) and defensive lineman Jaquez Carter (Ohio State commit).
Some other four-star prospects scheduled to make trips are:
- Defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou
- Wide receiver Vernell Brown
- Running back Waltez Clark
- Tight end Tae'shaun Gelsey
- Quarterback Will Griffin
- Defensive back Jaelen Waters
- Wide receiver Somourian Wingo
- Edge rusher Jamarion Matthews
- Defensive back Jamarrion Gordon
DJ Pickett's father provides a major update on LSU commitment
National Signing Day is quickly approaching, and it’s flip season in college football recruiting. However, DJ Pickett seems to be pretty locked in at LSU, as his father Damien shared.
“It’s about my son being happy, my son being comfortable and my son getting on the field earlier and we feel that spot is LSU,” Damien told On3.
Picketts’ confidence in LSU stems from several factors, including defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, who has a history of developing top-tier talent on defense.
"Just the Corey Raymond factor. And it’s Defensive Back U. DBU. That’s a big factor for LSU," Pickett's father told On3. "The fact they have developed so many DBs. Coach Raymond developed so many DBs at the school. There are so many greats that played at LSU. I’d say history as far as LSU."
For now, LSU's committed players like offensive lineman Tyler Miller, quarterback Bryce Underwood, tight end Mike Tyler, defensive back CJ Jimcolly and wide receiver Derek Meadows are potentially considering flips to other schools before National Signing Day.
