Billy Napier's Florida lands commitment of 4-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery to the class of 2025
Coach Billy Napier and Florida landed a commitment from four-star wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery to the 2025 class on Sunday evening. The prospect from Miami Central High School in Florida chose the Gators over Penn State, Alabama, Miami, Florida State, LSU and Oregon, among others.
The native of Central Falls, Rhode Island, expressed his excitement about joining the Gators, especially the opportunity to play "in front of a big crowd" at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. His decision to commit to Florida came after holding over 40 offers and feeling a strong connection with the program, which began shortly after he received an offer last year.
The relationship strengthened during Naeshaun Montgomery's official visit from May 31 to June 2, where he had the chance to meet with 2024 class quarterback DJ Lagway. The overall experience significantly influenced his decision.
“I feel amazing to do it in front of my whole family and friends,” Nae’shaun told The Providence Journal. “I’m just extremely blessed."
The wide receiver praised the Gators’ coaching staff, especially coach Napier and wide receiver coach Billy Gonzales, for their constant communication.
"Coach Napier, coach Billy Gonzales, every time I go down there, it's really like a family," Montgomery revealed to Rivals.
Montgomery also lauded the coaching staff's ability to develop wide receivers as a crucial factor in his commitment.
“I like how they develop receivers,” Montgomery said (via On3). “Coach Billy Gonzales, coach Napier and the rest of the coaching staff know what to do with receivers. They do a great job of developing players, and that was the main thing I cared about.”
With Naeshaun Montgomery on board, Florida’s future looks even brighter. The Gators will begin their 2024 season on Saturday as they take on Miami at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
