Billy Napier's Florida offers scholarship to North Carolina commit Danny Odem to the Class of 2026
Three-star prospect Danny Odem from The First Academy in Farrell, Pennsylvania, continues to shine on both sides of the ball by playing as a cornerback and wide receiver. Despite already committing to North Carolina, he remains a hot commodity in the recruiting world, as several programs are trying to sway him away from the North Carolina Tar Heels.
On Monday, Billy Napier's Florida also reached out to Odem for the Gators' 2026 class. The 6-foot-1, 160-pound prospect shared the scholarship news on X, writing:
"Blessed to receive an Offer from the University Of Florida💙🧡 @GatorsFB #Ag2g🙏🏾 #GoGators🐊@DanLaForestFB @SWiltfong_ @HSFB_Scoreboard @CoachCwarren @JohnGarcia_Jr @adamgorney @RyanCallahan247 @RyanWrightRNG @BHoward_11 @samspiegs @RivalsFriedman @BrianDohn247 @On3Keith @Royals__FB @InsideTheGators @Corey_Bender @Jason_Higdon @CoachWillHarris."
The Tar Heels initially offered Odem during their June 12 7-on-7 team camp, with Charlton Warren, the defensive backs coach, leading the charge. Odem gave his pledge following a visit to Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels' 38-20 victory over Charlotte on Sept. 7.
UNC, which holds a No. 17 national ranking for the 2026 class, already boasts two other recruits, including edge rusher Zavion Griffin-Haynes and quarterback Zaid Lott.
In an interview with Inside Carolina, Odem expressed his long-standing admiration for the Tar Heels, saying:
“North Carolina has always been my dream school. So, it was just very exciting when they offered and invited me to the game.”
Despite his strong commitment to UNC, schools like Florida will continue to be in the race to potentially flip him. The Gators have a recruiting class ranked No. 10 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC. The program has three key players committed for 2026, including quarterback Will Griffin, linebacker Jaelen Waters and safety Devin Jackson.
Danny Odem's 2024 season performance so far
Danny Odem has made a strong impact this season through five games, recording 34 tackles, with 18 solo tackles and 16 assisted tackles. His defensive contributions also include one tackle for loss, one interception, one pass deflection and one fumble recovery. He has contributed on offense by accumulating 23 receiving yards.
Despite not being ranked on On3 or 247 Sports, Danny Odem holds a three-star rating from both ESPN and Rivals. ESPN ranks him as the No. 292 overall prospect in the country, the No. 44 wide receiver in the 2026 class and the No. 54 recruit in Florida.
