Brian Kelly's recruiting woes continue as LSU Tigers lose commitment of 4-star EDGE

Maliha

Four-star edge rusher Jesse Harrold decommitted from the LSU Tigers' 2025 class on Friday. The standout from Gaither High School in Florida had been committed to the school since June 22.

Harrold is ranked as the No. 144 prospect in the nation, the No. 19 edge rusher in the 2025 class and the No. 23 recruit in Florida. He is the third recruit to decommit from LSU this month.

Interior offensive lineman Devin Harper flipped to Ole Miss on Nov. 16. After five days of Harper's move, Brian Kelly lost his highest-rated prospect in the 2025 class, five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, to Michigan.

The situation could worsen for LSU in the coming days, as four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows and three-star tight end Mike Tyler are also rumored to be considering flips.

Meadows committed to LSU in July but has kept his recruitment open. Following Underwood’s commitment to Michigan, On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicted that Meadows might join the Wolverines. However, 247Sports analysts Tom Loy and Blair Angulo believe Alabama could land Meadows after the Crimson Tide lost former commit Caleb Cunningham to Ole Miss.

Meanwhile, Tyler has been committed to LSU since Aug. 17, but his in-state South Carolina has kept pursuing him. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Gamecocks a 63.9% chance to flip him from the Tigers.

What's next for Jesse Harrold following decommitment from the LSU Tigers?

Jesse Harrold chose the LSU Tigers over Illinois, Texas A&M, Florida State and Central Florida, among others. With his decommitment from the Tigers less than a week away from the early signing period, Brian Kelly's program has no chance of securing his commitment for the second time.

Harrold holds more than 30 offers from college programs. He will take an official visit to Florida State for the Seminoles game against the Florida Gators this weekend. Though Florida State is 2-9 this season, Mike Norvell's program appears to have the edge in Harrold's recruitment.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Florida State a 96.8% chance of securing Harrold's commitment. The Seminoles are left with only 13 committed players in the 2025 class following the flips of multiple prospects to in-state Florida Gators. The Seminoles this cycle ranks at No. 30 in the nation.
