CFB insider states Colorado signee Julian Lewis is "as ready to play in college as he's going to be"

Julian Lewis, a star quarterback from Carrollton, Georgia, captured national attention for his exceptional play and poise under pressure. Last Friday, he guided Carrollton High School (14-0) to a decisive 30-17 victory over Buford, earning a spot in the 6A state championship against Grayson.

CFB analyst Charles Power praised Lewis’ readiness for the collegiate stage, highlighting his extensive experience and maturity. He suggested that skipping a senior season wouldn’t hinder his development.

"Julian Lewis is probably as ready to play in college as he's going to be. I think what he's done at Carrollton in Georgia, I think it can stand alone. He doesn't need to, he's not gonna, I'm not sure that we'll see him have the benefit of playing a senior year like we do a normal quarterback. The reps and starts are there. He's just bypassing one year. "

Initially the No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class, Lewis reclassified to the 2025 class in January. Widely regarded as a top prospect since middle school, he now ranks second-best quarterback in the 2025 class, trailing only Bryce Underwood. He has signed with the Colorado Buffaloes.

Lewis’ decision marks a pivotal moment for Colorado, as he becomes just the fifth ESPN 300 recruit the Buffaloes have landed in the last two cycles. Before his commitment, none of Colorado’s 2025 recruits were ranked in the ESPN 300.

Julian Lewis brings record-breaking talent to Colorado

Lewis initially committed to USC in August 2023 as part of the class of 2026. However, following his reclassification to the class of 2025, Lewis decommitted from USC on November 17, ultimately choosing Colorado.

During his high school career at Carrollton High in Georgia, Lewis amassed remarkable stats, throwing for 10,484 yards, 140 touchdowns, and just 18 interceptions.

Charles Power highlighted Lewis’ exceptional productivity.

"And Julian Lewis is a guy who has been hyperproductive. He's basically played almost a full high school career in three seasons at Carrollton, Georgia. I mean, if he stopped right now, he would have kind of like atop 10 type of record season in terms of his production in the state of Georgia's history."

In his final season, Lewis completed an impressive 75.8% of his passes, racking up 3,272 yards and 44 touchdowns. His valuation is NIL, at $962,000 per On3.

Lewis joins a strong recruiting class at Colorado, which includes four-star talents like London Merritt, Carde Smith, Adrian Wilson, Quanell Farrakhan Jr., and Chauncey Gooden.
