North Shore High School wide receiver Quanell X Farrakhan Jr. committed to the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday. The four-star prospect from Houston, Texas, chose coach Deion Sanders' program over Alabama, Nebraska and Texas A&M, among other big programs.

Farrakhan had initially narrowed his choices to Alabama, Nebraska and Texas A&M, but everything changed in early May when Colorado made him an offer. As time went on, Sanders' program and UCLA emerged as the main contenders vying for the 6-foot-2, 180-pound WR's commitment. An official visit to the Buffaloes during the weekend of June 21 ultimately sealed the deal in their favor.

“Really just the feel when I got up there,” Quanell X Farrakhan told On3. “Them treating me like family. Everything was so real down there. I’m big on relationships. Ever since I got the offer from Colorado they were always checking on me making sure I’m good outside of football."

Buffaloes wide receivers coach Jason Phillips and assistant director of player personnel Devin Rispress consistently communicated with the prospect, and he was also impressed by Colorado's offensive strategy.

"They’re always getting the ball. They’re always throwing the ball. As a receiver that’s what you want to be part of," Farrakhan said. "Them airing the ball out is big for me. Being in that offense will help me shine at the end of the day."

On3 ranks Quanell X Farrakhan as the No. 292 overall prospect, the No. 39 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 46 recruit in Texas. He is also the No. 36 wide receiver in the class and the No. 43 recruit in Texas, according to 247Sports.

Deion Sanders hypes the commitment of Quanell X Farrakhan Jr.

The Buffaloes enjoyed a fabulous 3-0 start last season but finished with a 4-8 record. Now, Deion Sanders is focusing heavily on his 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes to bolster the roster for the upcoming seasons.

Following Quanell X Farrakhan's commitment to the 2025 class, the Buffaloes class improved from No. 86 to No. 78 in the Rivals team ranking, and Sanders couldn’t help expressing his excitement about it on X.

"I heard we got a 'X' factor !!! Wow 'WE COMING BABY' #CoachPrime," Sanders wrote.

Quanell X Farrakhan himself had high praises for Sanders following his official visit.

“It was an unbelievable experience when I had talked with Coach Prime,” Farrakhan said (via On3). “He said I have to get up there and be a dog and do what I do best when I get up there. I want to showcase what I can do on the field and off the field.”

Farrakhan is the sixth commitment of Colorado's 2025 class and the fourth four-star prospect in the fold, joining defensive back Alex Graham, linebacker Mantrez Walker, and offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden.

As the first wide receiver commit of the cycle, Farrakhan follows in the footsteps of previous top recruits secured by Sanders and his coaching staff.

“Being part of what Coach Sanders has going on,” Farrakhan said. “I feel like he has the potential to bring in key pieces he needs to go to a national championship. I feel like me being part of that I can be part of something special.”

During his junior season, Quanell X Farrakhan recorded 46 receptions for 806 yards and 12 touchdowns, while also adding another five rushing scores and two more touchdowns on interceptions. This upcoming season will see him at Houston North Shore, aiming for his fourth Texas District 13-6A first-team selection in four years.
