"Dude probably got like 3 NFL prospects in the house": Fans react to NFL QB Philip Rivers' son Gunner Rivers' comparison
Former quarterback Philip Rivers’ eldest son Gunner Rivers has drawn comparisons with his father, who played in the NFL for 17 years. Fans spotted Gunner throwing just like his father did.
Sportscenternext posted a video of Gunner Rivers on Thursday and captioned the video:
“That throwing motion looks VERY familiar. Gunner is the son of former NFL QB Philip Rivers.”
One fan commented that there might be more NFL prospects in the Rivers family.
"Dude probably got like 3 NFL prospects in the house,” one fan said.
Another said that Rivers’ family has many sisters and brothers.
“Bros got like 18 kids. One gotta hit the league,” one commented on Instagram.
One fan joked:
“Played against bro.”
Many fans had similar reactions. One added to the family members joke:
“1-9 which one is this of all his kids?”
However, a fan praised Philip Rivers’ QB skills:
“When you play catch with a pro QB, it’s easy to pick up those skills.”
Another commented saying that many more Rivers’ kids would throw in a similar way:
“Just wait until all 20 kids throw like that.”
One fan joked:
“I might be Philip Rivers’ son. I throw like that too. My homie throws like that too. Matter of fact, everyone I know throws like that. Damn he really does have a lot of kids.”
One complained of not seeing the throw properly in the video:
“How can you even tell? He’s blocked by a player lol.”
Another talked about the quarterback and that he was born to be one:
“He got 11 kids one of them were going to get his talent and with a name like Gunner he was born to be a qb.”
One fan complained about the throw not being visible in the video:
“Soooooo you pick the worst video to show the throw motion bet.”
Gunner Rivers' stock is rising in high school football
Gunner Rivers had a standout freshman season at St. Michael Catholic High School in Alabama. Last year, he showed his passing skills, completing over 229 of 362, nearly 3,100 yards and 29 touchdowns.
His accuracy and decision-making abilities earned him a spot on the MaxPreps Freshman All-America second team. Rivers has been rated as a four-star recruit and the eighth-best quarterback in the 2027 class by 247Sports.
While the pressure to live up to his father's legacy may be high, Gunner Rivers has shown that he's more than capable of carving out his own path.
