"Exceeded all of my expectations": 2026 TE Eli Wilt talks about his visit to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Eli Wilt, a 2026 tight end from Ensworth High School in Nashville, Tennessee, was in Notre Dame during the program's win over Virginia on Sunday, Nov.17.
Wilt's visit turned out to be a lucky one as the Fighting Irish won the game in dominant fashion. It was Notre Dame's 10th win of the season.
The TE shed light on the experience of his visit and witnessing a Notre Dame win at their home stadium.
"Overall, the visit was amazing," the 6-foot-5 tight end said, as per AthlonSports. "I loved the game-day atmosphere and the student section was unreal. I also really enjoyed the entire experience from a recruiting standpoint. I knew it would be top-notch, but it exceeded all of my expectations."
"It’s hard to choose just one favorite part of the visit," he continued. "The atmosphere in the stadium was unreal, along with all of the traditions they have during the game."
Notre Dame is having a terrific season and that has attracted a lot of top high school recruits in the country. The Fighting Irish have won 10 out of 11 games and are on a nine-game winning streak. Their recent win came against the 19th-ranked Army Black Knights.
Eli Wilt also spoke about his interactions with Notre Dame's coaching staff
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosted several high school recruits during their game against the Army on Nov. 17. One of them was Eli Wilt, a Tennessee native from the Class of 2026.
He also spoke about the coaching staff and his interactions with the team's offensive coordinator and tight ends coach, Mike Denbrock.
"The staff did a great job of wanting to get to know me as a person and a player," the four-star recruit said, as per AthlonSports. "One of their main selling points was that they have a winning tradition and a true culture. Coach Denbrock, being the OC and TE’s coach, shared with me that he will get the tight ends involved in the game plan every week."
Notre Dame's Class of 2026 is ranked No. 21 in the country, as per 247Sports. Marcus Freeman and Co. have already landed three commitments from the class in Thomas Davis Jr., Noah Grubbs and Dylan Faison, and will hope to add Eli Wilt to that list.
