DJ Pickett, a five-star cornerback from Zephyrhills High School announced his commitment to the LSU Tigers on July 17 this year. The 6-foot-4 athlete from Florida is one of the most highly sought-after players from the Class of 2025 and has received offers from more than 40 of the top programs.
Despite his commitment to Brian Kelly's team, Pickett is still taking trips to visit other colleges. The prospect is still set to visit the Florida Gators this weekend. Pickett has visited the Gators' campus multiple times and has also attended a couple of camps in Florida.
Per On3's Shea Dixon, Pickett will attend Florida's season opener against Miami on Saturday to watch his cousin, Booker Pickett Jr., make his debut for the Miami Hurricanes.
However, according to Pickett's father, the defensive back is "1,000 percent committed" to the Tigers and will make several visits to Baton Rouge in the upcoming weeks.
Per On3 Industry Rankings, Pickett is ranked No.7 nationally and is the second-best cornerback from the Class of 2025. He is also the best overall prospect from the state of Florida.
DJ Pickett is one of LSU's three five-star commitments from the Class of 2025
DJ Pickett chose the LSU Tigers in July this year, over other top schools such as Oregon, Miami, Florida and Georgia.
Pickett is one of LSU's three five-star commitments, powering the nation's No. 3-ranked 2025 recruiting class. The other two five-star prospects are quarterback Bryce Underwood and wide receiver Derek Meadows.
DJ Pickett spoke about the reason behind his commitment and the Tigers' defensive backs coach, Corey Raymond.
"Coach Raymond is good guy, and the environment of the school I like," the five-star recruit told On3. "I really like Baton Rouge and what they can do for me on and off the field. Their fans care about their players, and it’s somewhere you can build you brand. A lot of people care for LSU, and it’s DBU, too."
LSU has already acquired 25 commitments from some of the best athletes in the Class of 2025. The Tigers' first game of the 2024 season will take place on Sunday against the USC Trojans in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
