Five-star USC QB commit Julian Lewis outperforms Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson in high school stats
Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis officially reclassified to join the 2025 college football recruiting class in January. This means his senior season at Carrollton High School in Georgia will be his last, and he has been making it one to remember.
Over three seasons in Georgia’s most competitive 7A classification, Lewis completed 646 of 943 passes for 9,761 yards, 132 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. These numbers place him ahead of both Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson in several categories. The comparison was made by a Buffs fan account on Sunday.
Lawrence threw for 10,612 yards, 120 touchdowns and 20 interceptions, with a completion rate of 670 out of 1,080 attempts. Watson tallied 9,302 yards, 108 touchdowns and 21 interceptions on 666 of 1,046 attempts. Lewis has slightly lower passing yards than Lawrence, but he outshines both in touchdowns and efficiency, with fewer interceptions in his still-ongoing season.
Lewis has committed to the USC Trojans, but his recruitment is still making headlines. Deion Sanders and his Colorado coaching staff are actively attempting to sway Lewis to let him step into the starting role after current Buffaloes’ quarterback Shedeur Sanders graduates.
Though Indiana also pursued Julian Lewis, the school appears to have stepped back due to its commitment to another starter. Auburn was also in the race for a while but backed off later. The Tigers later flipped quarterback Deuce Knight from Notre Dame for the 2025 class.
Julian Lewis resembles Trevor Lawrence's playing style
Julian Lewis' high school coach, Joey King, coached Trevor Lawrence during his high school years and sees a striking resemblance in talent. In an interview with ESPN in January, King shared his take on this, saying:
"I've had the privilege of coaching Trevor Lawrence. He's in the same category as Trevor. The skill set and arm talent he has are definitely advanced for his age."
Lewis is ranked as the nation's No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 class, per ESPN. He is also listed as the No. 2 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 1 recruit in Georgia.
Julian led the Carrollton Trojans to a perfect 10-0 regular season. This phenomenal performance positioned the program as a strong contender in the upcoming Georgia 6A state tournament.
