Former NBA champ Matt Barnes' sons Isaiah and Carter Barnes share a heartfelt post in solidarity with the LA fire victims

The Los Angeles wildfires have engulfed Southern California, resulting in over 100,000 evacuations and an estimated economic loss of $250 billion in damages. Amid the chaos and raging fire, former NBA champion Matt Barnes' twins, Isaiah and Carter, penned a note to more than 7,500 firefighters battling the unprecedented blazes and showed their solidarity with victims on Wednesday:

"Y'all, the fires happening in SoCal right now are seriously heartbreaking. So many people have lost their homes, animals, and loved ones. Sending all the love to the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers out there risking it all. Y'all are the real MVPs."

Dad Matt Barnes is a constant inspiration to the Barnes Twins

The Barnes twins look up to their father for advice and constantly adhere to his mantra of mental toughness and consistency. In an interview with the Cronkite News in June, the two opened up about their father's tutelage and influence during the Section 7 Basketball Tournament.

"He's preached so much to us," Isaiah said. "He's preached mental toughness, defense, offense, consistency, body language, even playing without the ball. For this, it's out of state. Big crowd. A lot of people trying to get in you head, but he always said, 'Tune it out, don't let them get in your head.'"

Carter also shared his experience of playing alongside his twin since the age of four:

"Playing with someone who looks like you, can sometimes play like you, it's a great feeling. We've been doing it since we were four years old. Never been on a different team so it's great."

In November, Matt Barnes shared a heartfelt post for his twin's 16th birthday, alongside the caption:

" S-I-X-T-E-E-N. I've been at a loss of words the last few days trying to figure out what caption I can come up with to explain how amazing you guys have made the last 16yrs of my life."

Isaiah and Carter play basketball for Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, California. In his freshman year, Carter played 31 games, averaging 7.3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists. In his sophomore year, he averaged 13.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists over 19 games.

On the other hand, Isaiah played 31 games as a freshman, averaging 8.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Moving on to his sophomore year, Isaiah played 17 games, two games less than Carter and averaged 13.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
