Former NFL WR Larry Fitzgerald Jr.'s son Devin Fitzgerald shares heartfelt birthday post for his mom via IG Story
Devin Fitzgerald, son of legendary Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald Jr., recently took to Instagram to celebrate his mother’s birthday with a touching message. In his Instagram story, Devin expressed deep love and gratitude:
"Happy Birthday Mom. Thank you for being the best mom ever and always being there for me. I love you Mom."
His father, Larry Fitzgerald Jr., spent all 17 seasons of his illustrious NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals. An 11-time Pro Bowl selection, he played a pivotal role in leading the Cardinals to the Super Bowl in 2008. He made a remarkable late-game touchdown that nearly secured Arizona a championship before the Pittsburgh Steelers ultimately prevailed.
Devin attends Brophy College Preparatory high school in Phoenix and the football team has had a great start this season with 3 wins and 0 losses. Devin is leading in both receiving yards per game and receiving touchdowns. His four touchdowns are second only to quarterback Case Vanden Bosch, the son of former NFL defense end Kyle Vanden Bosch. Devin has already received offers from 10 schools, including Penn, Pitt, Toledo, Washington State, and Arizona.
Devin Fitzgerald shines in season opener, reflects on balancing expectations
In Brophy Prep’s thrilling 35-28 season-opening victory over Williams Field High School, Devin Fitzgerald caught three touchdown passes, including the game-winning score with just seven seconds left. Fitzgerald’s final grab, in which he reached over a defender to make the grab, capped off a memorable game for the junior wide receiver.
Last season, 6-foot-4, 205 pound athlete Daylen Sharper, son of former NFL safety Darren Sharper, was the team’s primary receiving option, catching 36 passes for 478 yards and four touchdowns as the Broncos reached the 6A semifinals.
Devin acknowledges the added pressure of having his father, Larry Fitzgerald Jr., in the stands.
“I guess there’s a little pressure,” he admitted, adding, “I try not to think about it.”
Larry Fitzgerald, a future Hall of Famer, has always emphasized that Devin Fitzgerald should forge his own path.
“I have always made clear to Devin that his journey is his own. There’s no pressure to follow in anyone’s footsteps or to meet any external expectations,’’ Larry Fitzgerald said. “The most important thing I tell him is that I’m proud of him, not matter what, simply for who he is, not for what he does on the field.’’
The 6-foot-2 younger Fitzgerald is taking football by storm as a junior. He made 15 catches for 175 yards and scored twice in 11 games last season. In 2024, he has scored four touchdowns and 135 yards from three games.
