Four-star Memphis WR commit Rahim Hutchins Jr. reaffirms his commitment to Ryan Silverfield's program
Flip and de-commitment season has officially started, and the last two weeks saw multiple such occurrences. However, Memphis commit Rahim Hutchins Jr., from Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, Texas, isn’t ready to follow the trend.
Instead of exploring other options, the four-star wide receiver has officially shut down his recruitment. In a post on X, Hutchins boldly declared:
"My recruitment is OFFICIALLY shutdownⓂ️🤝🏾."
Hutchins got the attention of Memphis as Ryan Silverfield's program extended an offer on April 18, leading him to commit just a few months later on July 5. He expressed his confidence in the program, saying (The Commercial Appeal):
"It felt right, it felt like home. The coaching staff was nice, the players were nice, everybody was nice. And I feel like they can make me into a better man."
It is definitely a big relief for Memphis to ensure Hutchins' loyalty, as he is one of the highest-rated prospects in the Tigers' 2025 class, which ranks No. 74 in the nation.
The Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class features 13 committed players, including fellow wide receivers Xavier Johnson (four-star) and Andrew Leslie (three-star).
Other key commits for Memphis this cycle are quarterback Antwann Hill, cornerback Xavier Thompson, edge rusher Aidan Wright, safety Cameron Upshaw, tight end Bryce Anderson, safety Cameron Upshaw, cornerback Michael Gilliam, defensive lineman Jacari Gatling and running back Tojuan Peyton.
Rahim Hutchins Jr. opens up about his goals with Memphis
Rahim Hutchins Jr. chose Memphis over several top programs, including Houston, Nebraska, Michigan State, Texas Tech and UCF. Despite playing as a wide receiver for his school, he is ready to be versatile if needed.
"I'm gonna be everywhere, I'm gonna move around," Hutchins told Rivals. "I'm gonna go to the slot, to the outside, it don't matter to me."
However, Hutchins is not only focused on his role within the team, as he has personal goals of enhancing his game further.
"I want to improve my agility and my elusiveness," Hutchins told The Commercial Appeal. "That's really everything I've got. I have route running, I have the speed."
Rahim Hutchins Jr. is ranked by ESPN as the No. 267 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 34 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 40 recruit in Texas. He is also tabbed by 247 Sports as the No. 181 wide receiver in the class and the No. 207 recruit in the state.
