Four-star safety Kaden Gebhardt confirms gameday visit to Ohio State this weekend
Four-star safety Kaden Gebhardt has been at the center of an intense recruitment battle, receiving offers from several elite college programs in the last two months. As the fall season gets underway, he has taken advantage of opportunities to visit schools on gamedays to get a closer look at potential future homes.
The safety is set to make a gameday visit to Ohio State, where he will be attending the No. 3 Buckeyes’ Big Ten showdown against Iowa this coming Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
On Monday, Gebhardt shared the news on X, tagging multiple Ohio State coaching staff, including safeties coach Matt Guerrieri, defensive line coach Josh Chorba, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and defensive quality control coach Brent Zdebski.
"I will be at The Ohio State University this weekend for a gameday visit!!" Gebhardt wrote. "@Kstaff07 @MattGuerrieri @jchorba16 @CoachJimKnowles @bzdebski @OHSBravesFB @Bill_Kurelic @MattParkerLR @markpantoni @mickdwalker @alexgleitman."
Coach Ryan Day's Ohio State boasts an impressive 4-0 record and has already secured a Big Ten victory, coming off a commanding 38-7 win against Michigan State on Saturday. The school has put up a phenomenal 195 points through its first four games while allowing just 27 points on defense.
Meanwhile, Iowa, sitting at 3-1, is coming off an open week after a solid 31-14 victory against Minnesota on Sept. 21. The school's only blemish this season was a narrow 20-19 loss to in-state rival Iowa State on Sept. 7. Gebhardt can gear up to witness a heavyweight battle between two of the Big Ten’s finest.
Gebhardt kicked off his gameday visits on Aug. 31 by attending West Virginia's opener against Penn State. He was also in attendance at Kentucky's 31-6 loss against South Carolina on Sept. 7, before heading to Norman on Sept. 21 to watch the Oklahoma Sooners fall 25-15 to Tennessee.
His most recent stop was at Purdue last weekend, where he witnessed the Boilermakers suffer a 28-10 defeat at the hands of Nebraska.
Kaden Gebhardt shines as a defensive standout for the Olentangy Braves
Through six games of the season, Kaden Gebhardt has tallied 42 tackles (11 solo, 31 assisted), two tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback hurries, two pass defenses and one interception. He also contributed on offense, rushing for 26 yards.
The four-star prospect's performance builds on an impressive sophomore campaign, during which he recorded 129 tackles, four tackles for loss, three interceptions, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one sack.
Olentangy has been equally impressive as a team, posting a 5-1 record. Its only setback was a 28-0 loss to Olentangy Liberty in the season opener on Aug. 23. Since then, the school has rebounded with five straight wins, including a dominant 35-0 victory over Thomas Worthington on Sept. 27.
The Braves will look to keep their momentum going when they face Marysville this Friday.
