Georgia Bulldogs recruiting: 7-foot-1 Georgia center Jackson McVey commits to Mike White's 2025 class
The Georgia Bulldogs are raking up some serious talent for their 2025 roster. The latest in their impressive recruitment haul is 7-foot-1 center Jackson McVey. The 225-pound McVey announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
"[Georgia] wanted me the most, and that's what they showed me," he said to 247 sports
With his commitment to the Bulldogs, Jackson McVey finally drew the curtain to a months-long recruitment drive that saw him garner interest from multiple top universities.
Ranked No. 245 in the top recruits of 2025, per 247Sports, he had nine offers in total. Five of them—Georgia, Florida, Georgia Tech, Stanford and Florida State—were vying hard to get the Atlanta, Georgia, native. Prevailing over the others, Mike White's Bulldogs were able to sign up the three-star prospect for their 2025 class.
"Simply put, they showed me they wanted me the most; they're close to home, and they have a playstyle that benefits me," McVey told 247Sports.
McVey believes his towering figure could be a real advantage for the Bulldogs. That's one of the reasons the school was pushing to acquire McVey.
"Right now, they don't have a seven-footer on their roster, and that was a need to them, and they expressed that to me. For all of those reasons, it was a no-brainer to me,” he revealed to 247Sports.
Mike White building strong lineup for Georgia Bulldogs ft. Jackson McVey
White has been busy this season to roll in some top talent for the 2025 class. In McVey, they have an imposing player who is versatile with the ability to score both inside and outside. His 40-point blitz for Gilmer High School against Dawson County tells it all about his scoring abilities. McVey will play his senior year with Overtime Elite (GA).
Beyond his attacking abilities, Jackson McVey is also a good shot blocker and an excellent rebounder. He averaged 22.8 points per game in a four-game GBCA Team Camp back in the summer.
Mike White seems to be on a hunt to grab top talents across the country. Apart from McVey, the Bulldogs have also added four-star center Kareem Stagg and four-star forward Jacob Wilkins.
Jackson McVey’s decision to join the Georgia Bulldogs for White’s team brings a combination of skills, size, athleticism and a good game IQ, which would significantly impact their competitiveness.
