Hamiley Arenas, the 16-year-old combo guard for the Notre Dame Knights, continues to make headlines in her breakout season, and her mother, Laura Govan, couldn't be happier. On Wednesday, the rising star shared exciting news on Instagram. Her stellar run this season has brought her an offer from the University of Wisconsin.
“After a great conversation with head coach Marisa Moseley, I am blessed to say I have received an offer from the University of Wisconsin. Thank you for believing in me ♥️🤍,” Hamiley wrote in her post.
Her mother, former reality TV star Laura Govan, was quick to express her excitement in the comment section with an enthusiastic two-word reaction:
“Let’s Goooo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”
Hamiley's brother, Aloni Arenas, also chimed in with a three-hearts comment.
Hamiley’s incredible performances this season are undoubtedly drawing the attention of top programs. On Tuesday, she scored 20 points, grabbed six rebounds and added two blocks in a tough 97-48 loss against the formidable Sierra Canyon. The day before, she had a jaw-dropping 30-point performance in a 72-48 win over Newbury Park, ending Notre Dame’s four-game losing streak.
Arenas has been putting up impressive numbers throughout her freshman season, averaging 22.8 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.2 steals per game. She set a career-high earlier this season with 31 points on 41% shooting in a 71-47 victory over Rolling Hills Prep.
Even in her Notre Dame debut, Hamiley showcased her potential, posting a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds in a narrow 75-70 loss to Campbell.
Laura Govan praises Hamiley Arenas after game against Sierra Canyon
The Notre Dame Knights were up against the powerhouse Sierra Canyon on Tuesday, following their uplifting victory over Newbury Park. But the Jerzy Robinson-led Trailblazers proved too much of a challenge to overcome. Despite a brave effort put up by Hamiley Arenas, the Knights suffered a crushing 97-48 defeat.
However, Hamiley Arenas' efforts were enough to draw praise from her mother, Laura Govan. She took to Instagram to share a highlight of the game featuring Hamiley in action as she made a spectacular basket. The former partner of NBA star Gilbert Arenas also attached an uplifting message.
"Watch and learn," Laura Govan wrote on Instagram.
On the other side, Jerzy Robinson, the No. 3 prospect in the Class of 2026, was outstanding. The 6-foot-1 point guard stashed 33 points, nine rebounds and four steals, dominating both ends of the court. The Knights are now 12-8 this season and will face Chaminade in their next game on Jan. 27.
